Silk or satin pillow?

I’ve been looking at a silk pillow case for myself and DH but am wondering if they are worth it? Do they make much difference to wrinkles?
Also is it worth investing in the silk rather than satin, or does a good quality satin do the job?

I bought I satin one to help my hair frizz less. I used it for one night only as my head kept sliding off of my pillow! I've not tried a silk one so can't comment on that.

Haha oh no! That was my main worry about them. Dh was suggesting the full duvet set, I can just see us falling out every 5 minutes!

Maybe it happened because I use 3 pillows but I did revert to cotton asapSmile

Good quality silk pillowcases are definitely worth it but need to be cared for correctly. I've used them for years and they make a huge difference to your hair and skin. I always use a matching eye mask too.

I have just bought a proper posh silk one and no more morning pillow wrinkles

I have a silk one and it is less sweaty than satin, so that's another plus.

Silk is definitely better for your hair - without it my DD's hair becomes an unbrushable tangled mess overnight - she sleeps on her back but wriggles her head around a lot. With the silk pillow it doesn't get any tangles. It's also helped my hair (which has always been frizzy and has become brittle since being prescribed steroids).

Silk is much better than satin because satin isn't very breathable. I'd advise a silk pillow with 100% silk on one side and cotton on the other side to stop the pillow slipping around.

Also if you want to try pure silk without the hefty price tag - Amazon do one in their basics range (pinzon) that they frequently drop the price down to around £7 per pillow. Its 100% silk on one side and 100% cotton on the other (the ivory colour is awful though; really a dirty, yellowed, cream - the silver is fine).

I've had silk pillow cases for years and I can't recommend them enough, especially if you have curly hair. Even 2 year old DD has a silk pillowcase in our house! Polyester satin will just give you static shocks and doesn't have the same benefits as real silk for your skin and hair, as well as not having the temperature regulating qualities. I don't find mine slip off or I slip off them, but I have quite slim, flat pillows.

Yy to silk. You only need one on top most pillow.

I have a silk duvet as well but that's a whole other story

I love silk pillowcases. They just feel so nice. I get mine from an Ebay seller in the US called 'feeling pampered'. I've tried other brands but the quality has been lower (I'm looking at you Soak & Sleep and Jasmine Silk!) and the prices higher.

In the summer I also use a silk filled duvet with a silk duvet cover. It feels light and lovely when it's hot. I bought it direct from the factory when I lived in China so it was really good quality but well priced. Looking at silk duvet covers in the UK, prices are expensive! I tried one in the sale from Soak & Sleep and it was ok-ish but had a lower momme count (so lower quality/thickness) and it kept sliding off the bloody bed. I tend to just stick to silk pillowcases now apart from in the summer.

I got a pure silk with a cotton underside, so it doesn’t slip all over the bed. It’s really helped my hair & skin. No more pillow marks in the morning! It was £15 from jasmine silk.

I have one from Amazon which is mulberry silk. Silk one side and cotton on the other to stop it slipping around the bed. It's nice and cool to sleep on, I love it! I also have a silk bonnet/cap thing as I have curly hair, definitely reduces the frizz.

I have allergies that can make my skin very sore and delicate. When I have a flare-up I use silk pillowcases from Patra. They are much more comfortable on my skin than even the best cotton. They must be ironed.

But I can't say that they make any difference to my hair, or to my skin when it's not having a flare-up. Normally I sleep on 100% cotton percale or 50/50 cotton/polyester percale.

My favourite bedding is 400+ thread-count cotton sateen. Not that I own any, myself, but my friend has a luxury boutique hotel and I've slept in her bedding. Oh...my...
