To fringe or not to fringe?

I've wanted one for 30 years but have never been brave enough. I have thick blonde (dyed) hair and a heart shaped face. But I am old and wrinkly with a thin, mean mouth and quite pronounced nasolabial lines so I worry that with a thick fringe all you'll be able to see is my mean - looking face!

But for all that I really want a fringe. I think. My hair is currently just above shoulder level but is in need of a cut so I'd like to go drastically different Grin

Just do it! It's only hair, and you can always pin it back or style it differently if you don't like it.

Perhaps go for a long-ish fringe to begin with (think Brigitte Bardot/60s fringe length) and then assess whether you like it. If you do, then go shorter next time. If you don't, then that's a convenient length for pinning back Smile

Just be wary that thick hair means that a fringe will need more effort styling (especially if it had any curl or wave in it).

For a heart shaped face I would avoid a blunt fringe though - something more curved may soften the top half of your face a little. Keep us posted on your decision!

Well, I've made an appointment to get it chopped. Tomorrow morning!

You can buy clip in fringes that look real.

I look ridiculous without a fringe so I'm biased. But they say everyone looks younger with a fringe.

I did it! I wasn't sure and decided half way through that I would go for it (grinch's words ringing came to mind: it's only hair!)

I love it!

My children say I look like young Mummy! So you may be based but right Fox

Ah glad to hear you love it! I believe hair is one of those wonderful parts of life where you can be very brave, and suffer few long-term consequences for it. I've had pretty much every type of haircut, and some pretty wacky colours and haven't regretted a single look yet Grin
