Who’s had fillers or treatment for nasolabial folds or marionette lines (nose to mouth creases)

Hi all,

I am going to try a touch of Botox soon! However, we are looking at tackling my nasolabial folds and particularly my marionette lines (those either side of mouth which make me look grumpy and fed up!)

I’ve read about and the Dr also covered various methods, using filler, placed in different areas or crosshatching on outer corners. I’m not sure which option to take!

Has anyone had any treatment like this at all?

Thanks!

I had it done a couple of years ago. It was painless and made my face look fuller and plumped out the lines. I did bruise really badly after and it cost £500. I would not have it done again because the cost outweighed the results.

Where did they apply the filler?

Exactly where you said. Nasal lines and droopy lines either side of my mouth.

Agree with pp. Very expensive. It did make a small difference at the time but I bruised badly and felt it didn’t last very long.

I have had fillers in those areas, also in my cheeks. It was expensive and I was quite badly bruised for about a week, but they did make a lot of difference and I loved the result. Apparently, your face never 100% goes back to the way that it was before - cool!

I had them. Thought it was excellent and I loved the result. Doing the marionnette lines really 'lifted' my face and expression, and re-volumised (made-up word) my lower face a bit. Also liked the nasolabials. I had no bruising. It lasted ages in me, at least 2 years. I need it again now. Can't remember the cost, and I know it's expensive, but i thought it was great value for money.

You don't need to worry about whether they do cross-hatching etc, that's their expertise.

Thank you!

So I had a quote for £200 for marionette, nasolabial. She is quite reasonable, £180 for Botox and a Doctor.

I just am not sure whether I’d go for direct filler around the mouth or under cheekbones to lift, although I have quite full cheeks and cheekbones! She also said a little in each (3 point facelift)???

I don’t want to look puffy!

Is the bruising or swelling obvious?

That sounds very cheap. Have you seen any of her results? Does she come recommended? As long as she's experienced I would go with her advice, esp for the first time. I expect she'll just do a little, see how you go, then get you back for review and maybe another bit.

I had no bruising or swelling, none, so I can't comment on that. But it was not at all obvious. I got a few 'you look well' comments.

Yes, she very much advises to start off with a little and see. She is a Dr but does this in her spare time. She’s shown me photos of her patients.

She has no worries about Botox, but advised me to have a little think about fillers. She said they can always be dissolved! 🙈

I went to see a doctor with an aesthetics clinic about nasolabial folds and she said she doesn't generally inject straight into them as the effects can be to add volume to the bottom of the face which is quite ageing. She recommended cheek fillers to round out the cheeks and pull out the folds a bit.

I had 2ml of filler into the 'pads' of the cheeks and the cheekbones. It has definitely pulled the lines out a bit (not massively) but also reduced tear troughs somewhat and restored a younger rounder look overall.

It was £550 but I love it. Next time I will have more in the cheekbones!

I've had my marionettes done and am extremely happy. I paid the lower end of the scale - but I'm not south-east or footballer-territory based.

I have particularly sensitive skin on my face and I was very sore and swollen for at least a week and considered getting everything dissolved.

Such a small amount of filler for such a huge difference - I'd be happy to pay every six months but I've told her to give me the nod if I start going Geordie shore!

bengalcat · 29/11/2018 18:28

Botox and fillers are all temporary do go with their advice - they can always do more later if desired by you and if it's not to your liking it will dissolve or can be dissolved . Keep off alcohol for at least 24 hrs before to reduce risk of bruising . For those up theatre who did bruise I'm not suggesting your lushes .
