Clarifying shampoo? - too much toning

I’m trying to embrace the grey, had a load of ash blonde/white highlights (which I loved) to try and blend in my roots whilst the 80- 90% grey/white grew out.

The overall colour’s gone a bit sludgy/dark now and I have a feeling I’ve been over using the toner (aka blue) shampoo. I’ve been using it once, sometimes twice, a week. On another thread someone recommended laying off the toner and using a clarifying shampoo - any specific brands to try that won’t dry out my hair?

Head & Shoulders should do the trick!

I used this one to help budge a wash in wash out hair dye & it did the trick, it wasn't too drying either ......

They're all quite drying, as is the purple shampoo. Do you use a different shampoo in between and if so does the colour look different on the days you use it? I'd try using a normal shampoo first, see if it makes a difference. Old skool shampoos that strip the hair (eg Head&Shoulders) are not very different to clarifying shampoos imo.

Oops, x post. :)

I think the toners built up over a few weeks to be honest so I don’t notice the sludginess on a wash-to-wash basis.

In between toner I use one of the Aussie shampoos. I think I’ll give either the Tresemme or good old H&S a go depending on what’s cheapest in Tesco! Thanks all
