I found a way to wipe off hair dye from skin!!!

So, I was dying my hair dark brown at the same time of doing some other maintenance including using some wax strips on my moustache upper lip. I then used the little oily wipe that comes with the wax strips to take off the excess wax. I then decided to try it on the drip of hair dye on my forehead ........AND IT WORKED!!! really easily.

Yay, for so long I have been put off dying my hair unless I have absolutely nothing to do the day after for fear of looking really odd with dark areas on my hairline.

I thought I would share my new found wisdom.

You're welcome!!! [smug emoticon] Grin

Hilariously, I initially read your name as Tartop. Tar top no longer! Grin

Nail varnish remover works too.

When you still have colour on your hair, just before you rinse it off, massage the hairline with the hair covered in tint (looks a lot worse until you remove it) and it removes the marks. (Wear gloves obvs.) It's a bit like chewing gum - it sticks to itself - and the friction of the hair on your skin helps.

Back in the dark ages fag ash was recommended (and always plentiful in salons). :)

You can put Vaseline around your hairline to stop it from running.

SplatPancake · 25/11/2018 22:13

My hairdresser recommended immediate cleaning with eye make up remover-sounds too easy to be true but works!

Bigonesmallone3 · 25/11/2018 22:20

There's never enough wipes in there to begin with 😭
I wonder if u can buy just the wipes

isdhjustlazy · 25/11/2018 22:23

Brilliant. Wonder if baby oil would work...
I get dye everywhere and usually use surgical spirit to get it off, it helps but doesn't remove it all and it nips like fuck

Tartpop · 25/11/2018 23:07

@bigonesmallone3 I have been on amazon and seen that they sell just the wipes and also a bottle of solution. The wax strips I used are boots own. I will have a look to see how the ingredients compare.

I have tried so so many things and just haven't managed to find anything that worked for me.

I can't put vaseline on as i have a few wispy bits and I have alot of grey, so I need to make sure I get them too.

I get the veet ones and about 20 strips come with 4 wipes 🤔 I only use then for my armpits so I always run out..

Cheerbear23 · 25/11/2018 23:36

I think those little wipes are baby oil type stuff so I’d expect baby oil to work too.

Mossyhill · 25/11/2018 23:41

bigone
I’m a beauty therapist- all you need to remove excess wax, is oil.
Baby oil or even veg oil if it’s all you’ve got on a piece of cotton wool will do the job. Smile

ThePoliticiansPraiseMyName · 25/11/2018 23:58

The 'Simple' brand toner on cotton wool wipes hair dye away easily too, and nice and cheap! I use really dark dye but just a few drops gets it off my ears and face without a trace Smile

IJustLostTheGame · 26/11/2018 10:39

I use baby wipes.
My dd isn't in nappies anymore but I still use them to clean everything.

evilharpy · 26/11/2018 10:47

Back in my hairdressing days a million years ago we used fag ash on a bit of damp cotton wool, it worked a treat Grin
