Retinol dryness help

Help my cr@p skin, please!

I have skin that doesn't 'turnover' well. I get some big under skin spots and some that are more sebaceous filaments.

I'm also starting to age.

So I've bitten the bullet and bought the indeed labs retinol reface. Less than 24hrs later and my skin feels dry.

I'll use it every couple of days for a fortnight and see how it goes but how do you stop this dryness. I just want nice skin. Mine has been awful for over 20 years. I'm sensitive to lots of chemical ingredients so spot creams just make things worse.

I oil cleanse then use gel wash off.

Then use the ordinary niacinamide and zinc, and their natural moisturiser + Hyalauronic, with few drops of rosehip oil on top after a minute or two.

I'm using mineral sunscreen after the moisturiser in the morning and before make up.

What else can I do?

I went through this, it's horrible and so frustrating. The only thing that worked was stripping everything back and keeping it simple, Nivea blue pot was my saviour.

How strong is that retinol? I am using tretinoin and only use it once a week at the moment - was advised to do that for first few weeks then go twice a week and then three times.

I haven't had any dryness but skin definitely looking better. Are you making sure your face is completely dry before you put the retinol on - as in you washed it one hour before? Things like that make a big difference I think to how your skin handles it.

I also use vit C serum twice a day which I think works well.

I do agree though that a very simple moisturiser is probably what you need with as little in it as possible.

I have aveeno, I'll use that, thank you!

I'll wait another day or two before using it again.

The indeed one isn't even that strong but it is good stuff, so stick with it. Buffer it with Cerave for a couple of weeks.

I find mineral sunscreen very drying. Could it be that? Don't get me wrong, I prefer it to the chemical ones which feel greasy and irritate my eyes but to counter the dryness I'm using a few drops of argan oil over my makeup and on my bare skin at bedtime.

Can't use anything other than miberal...Chemical ones I'm hugely allergic to the sunscreens in them.

And therefore most day creams with SPF too.

Aveeno seems to have helped overnight!
