I'm desperate to buy new clothes. Have a reasonably generous budget yet I can't part with my money because decent clothes are so difficult to find. Anyone else finding this?

I've got the opposite problem. Lots of nice things I'd like, but no money!!
What sort of styles do you like? Do you like having lots of fashionable clothes (buying regularly) or slow fashion (maybe capsule, long lasting) ? What size are you? What's your budget?

More capsule than fast fashion but anything really. Happy to spend £50 on a top £30ish on a Tshirt that kind of thing just struggle to find anything. Size 14 and prefer natural fibres.

Following as in same boat, just want some decent well made pieces that will wear well, tbh my best buys have been second hand, bought some second hand Laura Ashley trousers recently for £2.99, well cut, good fabric, wash beautifully, looked at similar in shops and fabric was just nasty and finish/cut nowhere near as good.

Would love to find a shop that is reliable for new things, love a bargain but charity shop is pot luck!

There are a lot of cheap and badly made clothes in the shops these days. Even upmarket chains seem polyester ridden. It's not easy and you basically have to sort through lots of rubbish to find nice bits. I can recommend Woolovers if you are looking for winter stuff. Also Massimo Dutti. M&S have some reasonable viscose v neck short sleeve tops, cream, navy, black

FourFoxCakes · 24/11/2018 19:59

The prices some people want to charge for 100% polyester.

The High Street wouldn’t be dying so fast if retailers didn’t insist on selling rubbish clothes.

Yes that's how I feel fourfoxcakes

Stay away from the big chain stores, and find a town with lots of independent shops. (Easier said than done, I know). Then talk to the person on the spot, who will often be the buyer and owner; they are truly invested in giving customers what they want. Buy a little, visit regularly, and they will start to buy with your needs in mind.
