What to use on DD’s curls?

Help! DD has short quite lose curls, which look beautiful after washing and drying naturally but are a disaster after she sleeps on them. How can I sort them out again in the morning, don’t want to put anything harsh on her hair, she’s only 6. Her hair is very thick.

I use Paul Mitchell twirl around, it’s quite light so won’t weigh the curls down, it’s £22 but you only use a small amount so lasts for absolutely ages, I use it on wet and dry hair because it’s half cream half serum it doesn’t make your hair look greasy either.

Get a water spray bottle and in the first instance just try damping it.

If that doesn't work get some spray leave in conditioner and try some of that when it's damp from the water misting.

IMO trepadora do the best curl products but they're not cheap and it can take some time to get used to how much to use and how to use them. I like the papaya slip but it goes a bit hard and you have to scrunch the crunch out!

Never ever dry comb or brush the curls. A silk pillowcase can help and also 'plopping' with a tshirt but innit sure how a 6 yo would get on with that!

I use John frieda finishing cream for my curls best thing I have found to rescue my hair in the morning without having to wash it again.

I would just use some diluted leave in conditioner in a spray bottle with a wide toothed comb - spray it to dampen it and then leave it to dry again.

I leave a cheap curly girl friendly conditioner in my DD's hair, and then detangle with fingers only, no brush. Curls stay lovely and defined for about 3-4 days.

I use the asda leave in conditioner for Dd just spray it on and comb with a wide tooth comb.

Not a product, but I always put DDs curly hair in loose plaits overnight, makes a huge difference!

Aunt Jackie’s, Cantu and Trepadora are all excellent. You need to indentidy the type of curl she has and use the appropriate products. The Aunt Jackie’s website is useful for this.

Rather than product, on day 2 I use strategically place hair clips to tame it. Whatever you do, don't brush it just use fingers to tease it into a better shape.

This, but only comb if necessary. A slight comb through with your fingers may be enough.

Or just tie it up.

The thing to remember with curly hair is that brushing will never make it look nice, and the only way to make a different shape is using water. If it has been tied up, it won't go down nicely until you wet it and let it re-shape.

Thanks all, found an empty spray bottle today and put some diluted conditioner in it, and it made all the difference, her curls bounced back nicely 👍👍👍
