2 days post-Botox - weird eyebrows and freaking out!

Falcon1 · 22/11/2018 12:34

I finally took the plunge after considering it for over a year. I got just a small amount in my frown line and around my hair line. Two days in and my eyebrows looks weirdly arched and I have deep frown lines above them. I called the clinic (Skn) and they said just to let it settle and they'll see me next week. But is this going to get better, or worse?! Can anyone provide reassurance?

I doubt it will get better, sorry to say, this sounds very early for a botox result anyway, sounds like they have put too much in to me,
I hope it does get better sooner rather than later,
Who did you go to? i know you said a clinic, but are you sure they wer [as botox has to be bought on prescription] e all qualified, and not just beauticians,
Somone who gives botox and fillers usually has to be a nurse or Dr, and able to prescribe , or if not have a qualified prescriber with them
I recently had a similiar problem, and ended up very bruised
The lady.[who incidentaly was a nurse] but not qualified to prescribe is now banned from treating people and being struck off

Bluntness100 · 22/11/2018 13:32

You really shouldn't be seeing a result at this stage, but you need to give it a another week at least so it can work before you know the full results.

Falcon1 · 22/11/2018 13:46

Thanks for you replies. It was a qualified nurse that did it, with 10 years experience.

I can definitely see some results already. My forehead lines have reduced and as I said, there are now weird lines about my eyebrows when I raise them.

I contacted the clinic and they didn't seem concerned. Just said they'd see me next week when the nurse is back in.

This is totally normal. You won't see the proper results until about a week afterwards, but in the meantime your lines will do funny things, as the botox is still settling and starting to work. You should be having your check up 2 weeks after the treatment though, so I'm not sure why you're going back next week??
I've had botox for 10 years, and the same thing happens to me, until it all settles down. It can look freakish to you, but no-one else would notice. At your check up, they will erase any areas missed with top up injections. By week 3, you'll look fabulous. Do not rub the area. Leave well alone! Honestly, this is normal :-)

Falcon1 · 22/11/2018 14:27

Huskylover, thank you so much - this was exactly the reassurance I was hoping for! I have got my follow up in two weeks, it's just they said today (when I called up in a panic) that I could come in to see the nurse next week if I wanted to.

I have since spoken to the nurse and she said the same thing as you, so feeling very relieved! Thanks for replying.

Don't panic! The exact same thing happened to me, weird Spok eyebrows with heavy lines above them... and I panicked. It was corrected at my 2 week check with a tiny drop of botox above each eyebrow & it totally evened out. It looked amazing & im heading back next month for my second session.

princesstiasmum · 22/11/2018 15:03

Watchdog last night talking about fake fillers mainly, and Superdrug have now started selling Botox apparently
Falcon i hope it settles down soon, i have never had such a quick reaction from Botox though

Falcon1 · 22/11/2018 16:03

Thanks dailyconstutional, sounds like what I may need.

I hope my quick reaction to the Botox doesn't mean anything sinister - like waking up next week with a totally frozen forehead...eek!

OP posts:
dailyconstitutional · 22/11/2018 19:55

Some people are simply more receptive to it apparently. I implicitly said I didn't want a frozen forehead, so I had a relatively low dose. I ended up with a lot less movement than I anticipated! She was quite surprised that such a little amount had such dramatic results & she said she will administer less next time.

I had a few days of serious face freeze before it settled down, and my (normally lovely) MIL said 'hmm, there's something weird going on with your face'. Cheers for that.

But she was right, it looked a bit odd initially, I think mainly because I am super expressive with my forehead (hence the Gordon Ramsay lines, hence the botox...). But once it settled it looked bloody great. I am pretty tempted not to have the suggested lower dose next time Grin

Falcon1 · 23/11/2018 09:47

Oh god, I really don't want anyone to know I've had it done so hope I don't get face freeze! Bit scared. Good to know it settles down though if that does happen. I didn't ask for a low dose but did say I didn't want it to look unnatural. Hhmm. Will just have to wait and see what happens. If it's a disaster I guess I'll just chalk it up to experience.

Falcon1 how is your botox now? has it settled down and looking as you wanted it to? ,i hope so

Falcon1 · 30/11/2018 11:43

Hi princess- thanks for checking in. My forehead looks great - totally wrinkle free, so that's good. My eyebrows do still arch outwards a bit though (although DH hasn't noticed!) so I'll need to get that sorted I think. My frown line is still there and I can still frown a bit, but it's much better than is was. All in all I'm pleased with the result and glad I'm not completely frozen.

Sk:n aren't the best......

Sounds like you've got a touch of spocking. A tiny dot of Botox just above the centre of the eyebrows usually sorts it out. I've had it before and you do look most peculiar with it. It's sortable though, so don't fret.

princesstiasmum · 30/11/2018 22:34

At least your eyebrows were raised, mine drooped at one side and the other didnt look any different, glad you are pleased with it now though,

Sillydog · 02/12/2018 13:34

Hi. I'm thinking about botox/fillers and wondered if you could recommend anyone in the bury st Edmund's area?

Delatron · 02/12/2018 13:46

I had eyebrow droop with mine which made me look tired. Not the look I was going for.
Darent have it again.

princesstiasmum · 02/12/2018 14:44

Delatron i was told it was because the botox was injected into the wrong place, but i only have it in cows feet now,
It is surprising how many nurses etc,get it wrong, maybe try someone else next time
Dentists are supposed to know more about the layout of nerves etc, and workings of the face

Delatron · 02/12/2018 15:28

@princesstiasmum I suspect that is what happened but I did use a well respected doctor, used to be a plastic surgeon, wins awards and she trains others! So may have been just my face! I may just not suit Botox.

I’ve heard dentists are the best people to go to though so if I ever decide to give it a go again will try and find a good dentist. I’m leaving it for now as it didn’t make me look any younger!

HappenstanceMarmite · 02/12/2018 22:23

Can anything be done about a drooping eyelid caused by Botox? Or is it just a case of waiting until it wears off?

princesstiasmum · 02/12/2018 22:38

OOps. crows feet, not cows feet
HappenstanceMarmite usually you will have to wait, but you can get some drops from your Dr, but you probably wont want to do that,
Otherwise whoever gave you the botox should be able to get you some,
Happened to me once, but i cant remember the name of the drops,
Have to say though they didnt help much, just had to wait it out
How long ago did you have the botox?

holidaylady · 02/12/2018 23:10

Dentists definitely know more about the muscles of the head/ face. It's what they study in great detail for years in the degree.

I would only see a dentist for any face work.

HappenstanceMarmite · 03/12/2018 01:20

princess I loved “cows feet” 😂

Had it done about six weeks ago. The time prior to this, my eyebrows raised too high (I secretly quite liked it though!). So this time she put a tiny dot just above each brow to calm it down a tad.
