It's a very nice posh black dress with a little shrug black jacket - was thinking of jazzing it up with heels etc and a bright pashmina. I mentioned it to a friend and she is horrified and am now having a crisis of confidence. Please let me have your view - I am feeling fat pale and frumpy, am comfortable in this and am really not up to looking for a wedding ourfit

thanks mrsB
will take that one on board. saw further down that cream works nice, which I would prefer tbh.

two people wore black to my wedding and they looked fab. Nothing wrong with it imo. Would be more concerned if you wanted to wear white dress .

btw why oh why oh why can't you wear colour with black? is it because trinny and susannah say so?

MrsBadger · 27/07/2007 19:49

no it's cause it looks rubbish

unless it's a very deep rich colour the black makes it look shallow and cheap

oooooh is trhat just your opinion?

i went to a wedding in june wearing a black linen shift dress with cream/black belt, with a cream jacket and turquoise/green shoes and handbag/earings.
i did have a quick think about the wearing black issue, then just went for it anyway.

how about if I can get hold of a multicoloured woven belt? a bit 'ethnic'. would that just look silly?

MrsBadger · 27/07/2007 20:16

try it and see what you think yourself, gummy

personally I try not to wear black at all as it does nothing for my skin and makes me look tired and haggard...

MrsBadger · 27/07/2007 20:17

worth a try, princess...

A friend of ours got married last year and the bridesmaids wore black. At first I was a bit but it really looked fabulous.

@Princess
If you don't want a hat, what about some feathers, what do you call them a fascinator, this kind of thing

My Mum wears them a lot for weddings. And a fancy scarf/pashmina would be good, perhaps in metallic look.

PrincessGoodLife · 27/07/2007 20:53

fancy scarf I can do - lots of choice in the shops near the mosque for something different...
