Hi,

So I've decided I'm going to give this a go, but there's so much information out there, some of which is rather conflicting, so thought I'd come on here and ask you lot Smile

I have seen a video on YouTube saying you should only get an air tight opaque bottle as the effects will wear off. I guess this makes sense. Is this true?..

Can you recommend me a starting point serum or cream please?

I don't have sensitive skin generally. Possibly combination, but not really sure tbh. I already look after my skin, but at 34, aging seems to have accelerated Confused

Advice please!

TIA

I started with Indeed Retinol Reface (Boots) a couple times a week. I also use Glycolic pads in the morning (Superdrug own are very good). Make sure you wear a high spf 👍

Thanks!

Full, do you know what percentage that one is?

This is from their website: I started using it after Caroline Hirons rated it as a good starting point. Google her, she gives great advice on acids etc

Retinol Reface:
– 1% next generation retinoid fluid: Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate formulated with the penetration enhancer Dimethyl Isosorbide
– 1% short & long-term time release retinol complex: Encapsulated retinol
– 3% retinol-like peptide: Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7

Go to a Dermatologist and get a prescription. It will cost you initially but save you in the long term from lots of pointless OTC products that aren’t strong enough.

pretzelflipzaretheanswer · 21/11/2018 15:23

Thanks, Full. What differences have you noticed?

user, I didn't realise you could get it on prescription unless you had a skin condition.

Yes, but you need to see a Cosmetic Dermatologist. Where do you live?

pretzelflipzaretheanswer · 21/11/2018 15:27

I live in Cambridgeshire

Don’t know anyone there! Sorry.

Hi, do you know anyone who is going abroad any time soon, in spain you can buy retinol over the counter for as little as 15 uros, much cheaper than seeing a cosmetic Dermatologist.

pretzelflipzaretheanswer · 21/11/2018 15:57

Lindy, gah! I've just come back from Spain!

My skin is brighter, dark pigmentation spots have faded lots, less spots & overall condition has improved. I did start using Glycolic at the same time so it was probably a combination of using both. Good luck in your search, there is so much too choose from it can be confusing!

You can get it from an online retailer. You have to have a phone consultation. I think I used obagi from skin station.
