Pre-teen skincare - blackheads!

HI there, I hope you can help. My DD is 11, has beatiful peachy skin, but about seven blackheads on her nose. The skin on her nose doesn't look greasy or coarse, but I don't want it to get any worse. What do you think i should buy for her? We've tried Biore strips which don't seem to have worked. I don't want to buy her anything too strong and stripping, and something natural would be good. I could get one of those blackhead removal things? Her hair gets greasy really quickly now, so puberty is definitely on its way. Any skincare you would recommend?
thanks in advance Smile

Exact same problem here. Anyone?

I'm going to get slated for this but I think you have to squeeze them. Carefully with clean hands and a muslin cloth.

I would just get her a gentle face scrub to use as well.

My DD point blank refuses any squeezing, I did one spot v v carefully a few weeks ago and she is still cross! Will run basin of water and hand her a muslin cloth and a gentle scrub neutrogena and make encouraging noises. She does have a set of nip and fab teen stuff and rose water but they don't seem to be doing anything. Thanks.

Both my ds's refuse squeezing.

Are they definitely blackheads or are they sebaceous filaments? Google has images of both. My nose is covered in the sebaceous filaments but I use Paula's choice BHA to keep it as clear as possible

Mine loves squeezing- revolting creature - so I thought I’d try to sort it before she gets obsessed. I will get the metal remover I think easier to keep clean too. I had one in the eighties! Any skin care ranges you recommend?

Have just spent an interesting time on Oxford street - one blackhead remover from BodyShop plus one large free sample of their pore minimiser lotion. Smells heavily of tea tree but has a Nice mayonnaise texture. Next had a chat with the nice lady on the demalogica counter at John Lewis. They have a new teen range of skincare which includes a fizzing face pack which fizzes the plug out of the pores. What a time to be alive! Am taking DD in in a few weeks to have a small facial to try a few things out, which she will love and we can tell what she might react too. I like Dermalogica and have used their microfoliant for years so don’t mind getting DD one thing from their range if it works. Will keep you posted!

I was in exactly the same boat and got bullied about my blackheads so tried absolutely everything. Then one day I read an interview where Billie Piper explained that her clear skin was due to just using normal soap and it worked for me! After years of struggling. Depends on skin type though, I think soap dries my skin out so makes it less greasy and less likely to get spots. Since then I was always complimented on my clear skin. So thanks Billie!

Apologies for erratic capitals in last post - on phone

Wow the fizzy pore unblocker sounds exciting! Good luck with it all, it's such a miserable time when the stupid blackheads just won't shift

donajimena · 21/11/2018 17:23

I pay my son to let me squeeze them. One pound per blackhead.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/11/2018 18:26

Nip+Fab have a teen range.
I bought cleansing pads and a little 'pen' for DS .

Paulas Choice has a lotion with acid (I think Lactic ) to deep cleanse.

dona you are a sick puppy! Grin

Blackhead squeezer didn’t work very well tbh but her nose is so little it’s hard to get purchase. I think we’ll do the hot cloth /oil cleanse for a bit until the area has calmed down (very shiny at the mo).

I found the blackhead remover only worked with A LOT of pressure and if her nose is only small then that would be a lot for her. The other thing that helped was the St Ives, or any brand, apricot exfoliating scrub. So I used to use that in a steamy bathroom and then try with the blackhead remover.
