Mending coat zip pull

I bought a winter coat from DP last year and in the spring the pull came off the zip.

Before I pay for a new zip to be put in (I like the coat) any idea how to fix it? I bought a replacement pull on amazon, but it came off again the next day - it was I think too big for the bit it needed fitting into so wasn't fitted properly , I used pliers to squeeze it together, but it obviously wasn't fitted properly.

I'm really skint, so looking for a cheap solution, it's too cold to walk around with my jacket undone now.

Thanks.

As a quick fix, thread a bit of ribbon through the bit on the zip the pull would go on and knot it.

Also, have a look and see if that bit has a gap at the end - I've had coats where the gap is too big and the pull just comes off. You can squeeze it shut, or apply a dab of superglue/hot glue

There's no gap, the original zip pull snapped.

I'll try the ribbon pull for now... if I can find some ribbon!

Is it the slider, or the tag that you pull?

If the slider, you can get a replacement. If the tag, try tying a bit of ribbon on it.

It's the tag you pull.

I saw those or similar on ebay but don't think they'll fit through the hole.

Thread a paper clip through.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've found a lovely piece of bright pink ribbon and managed to thread it through with a darning needle, it'll do the job just fine!
