Tights and dresses problem

Nodney · 20/11/2018 13:25

I would love to wear thick tights, a dress (probably jersey in the main) and my boots this winter but I have a problem stopping my dress sticking to my tights! I have a very short waist slip which I use but it always seems to be showing under my dress, at the bottom. My dresses aren't particularly short so I don't know if this little slip is slipping down or something.

I hate this little slip so this winter I have only worn jeans - but I want to wear dresses again! What do I do? Thanks!

Spray hairspray on your tights and inside dress
or
Rub tumble dryer sheet on tights

You are welcome!

Use a full slip rather than a half slip?

You can also buy anti static spray

dmell13 · 20/11/2018 15:14

Rub some body lotion or hand cream into your hands and run them over your tights while wearing them. Always works for me 💁🏻‍♀️

Lexilooo · 20/11/2018 18:06

Get a different half slip, or a full slip.

Also try pinning a safety pin to the inside of the hem of the skirt/dress.

Oldraver · 20/11/2018 18:31

Full slip as they have adjustment on the shoulders so you can hoik them up or drop down.

I got mine from M+S, they do different lengths as well

winterisstillcoming · 20/11/2018 18:39

Leggings? They doesn't seem to stick as much.

Body lotion on tights

LaurieFairyCake · 20/11/2018 18:43

Wonderwoman

Extra pants over tights - long ones (like cycling short are the best). Bonus - tights never fall down no matter how much you dash around

LizzieSiddal · 20/11/2018 18:50

Yes M&S are great for different lengths. I’d recommend going on their website as they have the full range there. In store can be a bit hit and miss.

Half slip under dress won't work. As soon as you sit down your dress will ride up because it is attached to your shoulders but your slip won't because it is only attached to your waist. Full slip should do the trick!

Thanks for all the help everyone! Going to give these a try

I read that rubbing fabric conditioner onto your tights helps banish the static.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 21/11/2018 12:43

The body lotion definitely works.

dameofdilemma · 22/11/2018 16:14

This is the problem with dresses that aren't lined. I don't expect a £30 Mango dress to be lined but I do expect a £80 Phase Eight one to be lined. Hmm

Anti-stat spray and body lotion both help but I've found only for a short time, not for a whole day at work.

DelphiniumBlue · 22/11/2018 18:10

M&S full slips come in different lengths and you can cut the bottom off to make them shorter, without having to hem them, as they don't fray.

SundayGirls · 22/11/2018 19:01

Use safety pins to attach the slip to the waistband of your tights.

Buy a new slip (I got a great small (almost mini skirt but not as short) length silky underskirt from John Lewis, was around £16, works perfectly. Comes in black, nude and white.

Buy dresses that are not made of jersey. I wear lots of dresses but wear nothing in jersey because it sticks to tight and leggings, my bum, my mum tum and all the rest and they wash badly over time.

ChishandFips33 · 22/11/2018 22:52

M&s slips here too - the cooling reversible ones. I have a collection of colours/lengths, game changers - eBay is great as many came new without tags

They stop the dress clinging to tights waistband muffin top
