I want it all, shine, body and Kaboom!
Especially Kaboom as my hair sucks.

Any tips?
Thanks

Philip Kingsleys Elasticizer.

Lovelydovey · 19/11/2018 15:13

Seconding the recommendation for elasticizer - I used it overnight yesterday and my fine, frizzy (dry but greasy) hair feels sooo much better now.

JamieAndTheOliveOil · 19/11/2018 15:17

Don't do anything other than brush it starting from the ends, tie in gentle styles like a loose plait and wash it.

No heat, , no colours, no products, no backcombing.

Mine is in a beautiful condition - long and grey. I love it. I wish I had left it alone years ago.

Olaplex or Aussie Miracle Oil Reconstructor (on sale at Boots for £4.99) is my new fave

HappyGoodHairBear · 19/11/2018 18:54

Castor oil soak.

Forgotmycoat · 19/11/2018 23:57

@happygood can you please explain how you soak your hair in castor oil? I have a bottle of the stuff that needs using up. TIA

HappyGoodHairBear · 20/11/2018 00:18

When I do it I do this:

  1. Warm up the castor oil to thin it down a bit
  2. Apply it to my dry hair, starting at the roots. I massage into the roots/scalp a bit. It is a bit sticky and tricky, but the results are worth it.
  3. Wrap my hair in a towel turban.
  4. Leave for up to three hours.
  5. Wash my hair and let it air dry. Doesn’t matter how throughly I try to wash it out, after the first wash it’s still a bit lank, so then I wash it again (usually the next morning) and blow dry. It feels like silk after and it’s soo shiny.

Some people say it’s easier/better to apply it to wet hair, some people mix the castor oil with another oil like coconut or olive to make it easier to work with. I find my way the easiest, but everyone’s different.

Remember to wash the towel though, don’t try to use it again!

Kaboom? You mean volume?

TheWeatherGirl1 · 20/11/2018 09:43

Thanks for this.
Currently I don't do anything with my hair, no heat, nada. But somehow it's rubbish anyway.
Elasticizer here I come!

If caboom equals volume then what you need is a dry shampoo type of spray.

Elastisizer won’t give you that.

TheWeatherGirl1 · 20/11/2018 09:45

I love the castor oil advice but I'm far too lazy/time poor for that kind of commitment.

L reuteri is a probiotic from Swanson that has helped thicken my hair along with the elasticizer. Be warned, it apparently improves orgasms as well!
It takes about 3 months to make a difference.

Fatted · 20/11/2018 09:50

If you don't do anything with it and want volume, then you need a hair dryer and give it a proper, decent blow dry!

Bananacentral · 20/11/2018 09:55

L’Oréal smart bond number 3 is amazing!!...a cheaper version of Olaplex that I actually find works better.
I pop it on dry hair before bed and put in bun. Then just shampoo/condition hair as usual in morning. It’s is literally a game changer for smooth/sleek/bouncy hair!

TheWeatherGirl1 · 22/11/2018 21:36

Thanks everyone

Khiels Creme with silk groom has transformed my hair, it's swishy and glossy now!

Frequency · 22/11/2018 21:44

Babybliss Big Hair and generic mousse/volumizer spray for kaboom.

Elasticizer and Olaplex ae awesome but they're for damaged hair. They'll do nothing for kaboom. However, if you start heat styling regularly (which is pretty much the only way to get kaboom) investing in Olaplex no 3 would be a good idea.

Stemm Fulvic Conditioner though very hard to find but Victoria Health doing their own version www.victoriahealth.com/product/Fulvic-Acid-Conditioner/13012/brand/FulVicHealth/1121
