Can you rescue mouldy leather boots?

My beloved leather boots had somehow ended up in the shed after last winter and are now stinking of mould. Sad
I have wiped them with antibacterial wipes and leather wipes and even sprayed the inside lining with Athlete's Foot spray (figured..fungus! ahaha), but they are still stinky. Both outside and inside.
Are they beyond saving?

Perhaps. I've had a similar situation. Boil wash in the washing machine with double detergent an then smother in leather conditioner. It's that or bin them, I'm afraid. Good luck!

OMG, boil wash leather! Won't it shrink?
I'm definitely willing to try though, so thank you!
Have first ordered a leather mould spray off Amazon, so that should work on the outside at least. Lining I'm not sure about yet.

Vinegar kills mould and also helps neutralise the smell. Spray with vinegar/water mix (50/50), let soak for a bit. Wipe clean. Spray it inside the boots too.
Then leave in the sun for a few hours. If they still smell or have mould just keep going over with vinegar.
