Dd has a couple of interviews this week - mental health admin related. This is where she wants to be after a law degree and MH related MSc. previous interviews have been the LK Bennett black dress and jacket with heels or a serious suit. Needs a slightly more relaxed look. I am more of a Boden/Phase 8 age so please can you recommend anywhere for more than Dorothy Perkins but not quite Hobbs stuff. Am thinking a dress with sleeves has it covered - softer than a suit but no cardi/jacket dilemma? Not black but maybe burgundy/French navy? Dd is 5'6/7, just below shoulder length dark hair, very pale skin (more olive than pink colouring iyswim) and size 12. Smart (not lawyer smart) but approachable. All ideas very gratefully received!

How about something like this? Could be worn with an existing jacket or smart coat, add a bit of colour with a belt?

I know it’s boden but it looks great (smart without being ott) and doesn’t need a jacket.

I would suggest a smart fitted short sleeve dress with either a cardigan or jacket and would agree Next have a lot of work wear. I was wondering though if your DD could wear the dress she has but with a coloured cropped cardigan to soften the look?

Thank you for all the suggestions - have passed them on to dd. She was out today looking for a dress but hasn't sent me any pictures yet.

I would suggest she just wears her suit, whatever the dress code once at work, you can't overdress for an interview, but you can underdress! Men would still be in a suit, so female equivalent unless specified otherwise
