Tips for my growing out pixie

I would like to keep growing it, but it just looks so crap.
I had just the tips cut off a couple of weeks ago. But the layers around my ears just look a bit fluffy at the ends, but if I use any sort of product on it, it looks greasy.
My hair is so straight and fine hair clips just slide out or leave kinks.
I need to look nice for a special event next week, does anyone know the answer?

I’ve had a pixie 3 times and the growing out part is awful but worth it. I’m currently growing mine back out to a short short bob and I’m almost there.

My tips really are just regular hair cuts, 6-8 weekly to trim the bottom, especially at the back but keep the length on top.

Check out YT for nice ways to style it too, or Pinterest

I’m in this boat. Trying to grow into a cheekbone bob with fringe (a la Evangelista in 90s). It’s so annoying around the ears but I use a bit of hair cream to smooth it down.

I've only done it once. I had my long, thick frizzy hair cut into a pixie about 15 years ago, and about 4 years ago I grew it back into a chin-length bob because I was asked to be a bridesmaid and, perhaps irrationally, I wanted to be able to join in with the hairdressing session with the others in the wedding party!

Anyway, the key for me was to keep on having regular trims to keep it in good condition, even though it inevitably meant it took longer to get the length I wanted. There will inevitably be an in-between time when the shape doesn't look great, but during that period I tended to wear it clipped back at the sides. It did go fluffy around the ears for a while but there was really nothing for it but to gel it down and try to ignore it.

All that said, as soon as the wedding was over I had it cropped again. I found that I just didn't feel like "me" when it was longer and when I got my pixie back it was an enormous relief.

I've been using urban fudge ends cream to stick bits down, but it seems to make it greasy. I've also tried wax and leave in conditioner.
Reading this I am an idiotBlush I haven't used gel since the 80s- can someone recommend a good one?

Patience and regular trims is the key apparently.
I'm growing out a pixie and several times I've been so close to telling the hairdresser to cut it all off. My hairdresser neatens up the back but lets the rest grow.
I'm currently at the stage of this photo of Kristen Stewart. Except she looks funky and edgy and I look like I've been dragged through a hedge.

I am doing this at the moment , my fringe is now past my nose/mouth, I had it trimmed end Aug going again in Dec (when it was Pixie , it needed cut every 5 weeks)

I keep my hair off my face with a stretchy head band , the back is short .I'm aiming to grow it out to a one -length bob that I can tie back or leave loose.

I've found that not washing it too often (used to do it every day/other day, now its every third day) , some heat protection spray and the Babyliss Big Brush to straighten it a bit , works best.

If I had the chance I'd hide away for a year and see no-one and have no mirrors till it was longer Grin

I recommend TIGI Bed Head Manipulator, works really well with my fine hair which is prone to a bit of fluffiness, doesnt make it greasy either. Used sparingly it works wonders.

When I was growing out a pretty-much-shaved head, I found blowdrying with a skinny round brush the best thing. Keep the dryer quite close to the brush and sort of pull downwards so that it doesn't curl round.
Also, spraying with dry shampoo and giving a quick blowdry on non wash days made it look a lot less limp and slovenly.
I played around with the colour quite a bit to stop me getting bored and wazzing the whole thing off again.
I don't think I will ever go short again though.

I started growing mine out in August 2017. 15 months later and it's just about shoulder length now.

Unlike everyone else here I don't have regular trims at all, not even once. It's hasn't been touched since August 17. I MIGHT have something done with it before Xmas, but as I hate and fear hairdressers (too many bad experiences) that could be tricky.

I also have the worlds slipperiest hair, and when I was growing out a really short cut last year the only product I found that didn't make my hair look greasy was R + Co Badlands Dry Shampoo paste. I don't actually find it very useful as a dry shampoo, but to add some volume and grip it's brilliant, and I still use it now if I want to add some oomph to my hair.
