Bra fitting?

xRoyalty · 14/11/2018 11:26

I went to M&S to get measured for a bra because I didn't know my size. She measured me & I bought 2 bras they feel like they fit properly. I then ordered a tshirt bra slightly padded online & its too big 🤷🏼‍♀️ the cups like stick out it just looks weird & bumpy when i put a top on. Are u a different size for different bra types?

M&S sizing is a law unto itself.

If you want to try another fitting, go to Bravissimo. They should be able to help with advice on different types of bra, too.

Even different bras within one brand fit differently. Padded t-shirt bras are the hardest as there is no flexibility. They either fit or they don't. You have either a gaping space at the top of the cups or your boobs bulge over.

Thanks 😊 I don't think we have a Bravissimo in our town. We just have M&S, Debenhams & Victoria Secret but i don't think they do everyday basic bras they all look fancy 😂

I was measured at M&S recently. She measured me in the t-shirt bra style and advised that balcony bras probably wouldn't fit me right but plunge ones would. The different styles of bras fit differently.

John Lewis is good too. Or go to an independent retailer (if you are in the south west of England I can recommend one).

IS there some measurement formula that MNers swear by. I keep forgetting what it is but you measure at like 3 different points across your chest and under and plug them into the website and they come up with a magic formula that will be your correct size. (And then you have to try loads on as the fit of different brands and styles will be different. )

Here you go Pop. OP it's worth trying this out and seeing what size it suggests as a starting point. M&S often recommend a bra that's too big in the back, as they use the +4 method, and too small in the cup.

Also, remember that cup size is relative to the band. So your padded bra's cups that are too big currently may be fine on a smaller band as the same cup size has a bigger volume on a bigger band, iyswim. Just saying as it's easy to automatically assume the cups are the issue, but it's worth checking the band as well.
