Red and flakey nose after a cold, what can I do?

Yuck - am in the final stages of a cold which I suspect will be over tomorrow but I have been left with a red, flakey nose which just looks worse when covered by any kind of foundation. I have a big reunion party on Thursday and need some remedies! What should I be doing between now and then to heal?

Slather it in Vaseline each night before bed, and more often if you're at home (obviously going around with a greasy nose probably isn't for the office...)

Sudocrem always works wonders in this situation for me, layer it on overnight

IHeartKingThistle · 12/11/2018 12:45

I find if I keep on using my Clinique toner it removes the flakes. Stings like hell though.

I use Savlon overnight when my nose gets like this. You can also use a bit of anthistamine cream to bring down the redness. Leave it free from makeup for most of the day, with just savlon on it, then just before the reunion, apply concealer and then light foundation.

You need LRP Cicaplast Baume. It’s a miracle in a tube. Only for nighttime though, bit heavy for a day cream.

Lavender oil is very soothing and reduces redness, you can mix it with some bland cream or oil and leave it on all night. I would resist exfoliating until you really need to (Wed night or Thurs morning).

I use Blistex Relief Cream around my nose when I have the cold - yes it is for lips, but it is so moisturising it works wonders!

AfterSchoolWorry · 12/11/2018 12:53

Sudocrem.

custardlover · 12/11/2018 14:40

Thanks - have been doing the sudocrem method to my husband's amusement so will keep on (and keep mainlining garlic and berocca to shift this pesky virus) - cheers!

I know it’s sold as a hand cream, but Atrixo is brilliant for stuff like his.

MoltonSilver · 12/11/2018 15:05

Lrp Cicaplast B5 Baume is indeed a miracle worker.

I second Decemberley's tip- Blistex woks wondes on the nose during and after a cold- soothes the chafing, moisturises and prevents cold sores Smile

hot water, honey lemon and a good tot of brandy also makes me not care about a cold Wink

applepineapple · 12/11/2018 16:26

Another vote for Cicaplast! An excellent multitasker Smile

guffaux · 12/11/2018 16:27

woks wondes?? a pirate must have made off with my aarrs! Confused

I always use the thick gloopy Nivea moisturizer in a blue pot. It's amazing and usually about £1 to buy.
Failing that, I'd use Sudocream.
