Creasing in material

I have a dress which I like. However, it creases badly when I sit down and then when I stand up, it looks terrible.

Is there anything I can do to reduce the creasing (other than stand all day / evening)?

Was wondering if a starch spray or something would make a difference? Come on Mumsnet gurus - please help!! ThanksSmile

Can you check the label and tell us what it's made of please? Different fabric require different creasing solutions!

Just checked: 100% viscose

I didn't realise it would crease so badly, so anything I can do to minimise that would be great! Thanks!

Viscose, particularly inexpensive viscose, is a nightmare for creasing. Standard advice is to stay away from it, but of course that doesn't help!

You could try making a fabric softener and water spray and using it on the dry garment, or a diluted spray starch. Personally I've not had much success with it and I don't buy cheap viscose anymore because of this.

If it's mixed with other fabric it can be ok (like a cotton or modal viscose mix) but it's notorious for being a bit of a nightmare creasing-wise!

Incidentally viscose jersey (stretchy) doesn't have the same problem.

It's a dress from Hush - so not cheap!!

Looks like I'll be stick with it and will have to spend the majority of my time standing up to prevent creasing.... Gah.

Thanks for the advice!
