Thinking of ditching all the hyped brands & trying Dermalogica..good idea?!

I’ve used plenty of different cleansers over the years, Clinique, Clarins, Chanel, Bobbi Brown, Emma Hardie (you get the jist!). I was in JL today and was intrigued by the Dermalogica products. I didn’t have time to stop & speak to one of the ladies to get a consultation (what’s the head gear all about?!). Has anyone decided to ditch all the hyped products & go for D?

I've been using Dermalogica for over 10 years and love it. Every now and then I think I should try one of the products/brands that's getting all the hype, but most of the time I find I don't get on with them (there are a few exceptions).

The head gear they wear is to perform the skin analysis / face mapping so they can have a really good look and feel of your skin to identify your issues and recommend a regime.

Meh, it's just another over priced brand. I tried several of the products over the years but have never loved any of them enough to buy them again.

I actually think a lot of the Dermalogica products are very very similar to La Roche Posay products just 2 or 3 times the price!

Thanks Wonderwoomin. What are your exceptions?

The only La Roche product I’ve tried is SPF MrsCholly.

Anyone else love Dermalogica?

I switched from that to Medik 8 but I have dry skin and I'm 47. Been using their range for a year my skin looks fab despite menopausal rages Grin

A friend of mine is very friendly with one of Ireland's top dermatologists and she recommended Dermalogica.
It was some years ago though so perhaps she's recommend newer brands now.

I was going to post the same thing!

I find the Dermalogica cleansing gel far too harsh and drying.

I have stuck with decleor. It may not be a trendy brand but I absolutely love it

Fullfatlatte · 11/11/2018 19:28

Jeaux90 - I’m 47 with dehydrated/oily tzone skin....might look at medik8. Thank you 😊

Decleor could be interesting, remember them being popular years ago but never tried any of their products. Elemis intrigues me aswell....all recommendations welcome please. Think I need to simplify my products!

What about REN, anyone use?

I’ve used Dermalogical since I was 22 I’m now in my mid 40s. It was a new brand then and my facialist was one of the first in the uk to use it. I only use the basic range - plus the multivitamin mask (which has been rebranded ‘age smart). I would recommend the special cleansing milk (not the gel) the basic toner and either smoothing or intensive moisture cream. For a weekly treatment the gentle cream exfoliant and then the multivitamin masque after. That regime has seen my skin through a lot including PCOS.

isthatalright · 11/11/2018 21:41

REN and Aluminer for me. I don't rate dermologoca

flintfoxy · 11/11/2018 21:44

I do actually really rate dermalogica it's just very pricey. I love their age smart Spf day cream which is fab but am trailing a Vichy one which is less spf but I figure in Feb winter and at half the price might be a good bet. Love the vitamin mask and the ore cleanse balm as well.
