Terrible teeth...help

Ok, please be kind, but these are my teeth..chipped, lots of fillings...for anyone in the know out there...how could I improve this...i do go to the dentist now, dont live in England, so don't know if they have top of the range services here. What should I be asking for? Implants? Dentures? I would love to have a great smile...I'm otherwise a pretty attractive person..I think...but fizzy drinks and fear of dentist has ruined my teeth...I just want to smile and look my best

You need to see a professional and they should be advising you and not the other way round.
Do your research , try to get personal recommendations if you can.
I had a complicated problem and needed braces when I was 36 , had to be done in Harley street but it was the best thing I ever did.
Prepare yourself that it is going to be expensive, if you can't afford it yet please don't try to find cheap alternatives, save up until you can afford the best.
That is my advice from personal experience. Good luck x

Your teeth arent crooked so superficial cosmetic dentistry would fix them. Easier than braces

HairyButtMonkey · 04/11/2018 11:39

Are you in the UK? I think your first port of call is a good dental hygienist. After a professional clean and may be some whitening you may be pleasantly surprised by the results. Otherwise I would say veneers are the way to go. I've just finished 3 years of dentistry (braces, new crowns and whitening) and it has made a big difference. Good luck 🙂

Mine aren't much different but doesn't stop me smiling. Can't afford to get them fixed. Plus mine are yellower... Despite 6 monthly dental check ups and all recommended work braces as a teenager etc etc mine are just crumbling. I think it's a combo of being an on/off smoker, teeth grinder, consumer of too much fizzy pop and sugar and third round of HG.

I dread to think what people think when I smile. I used to care but I don't anymore.

One day I'd love to get them fixed but right now I can't afford so meh...

Also I've seen plenty worse OP xx

Register with a dentist and go. One who specialises in restorative work.

They will advise you your options, but first thing will be a really good cleaning appointment with a hygenist. You might be surprised how much improvement you see even after that!

SinkGirl · 04/11/2018 11:44

Mine are not dissimilar - I also have two broken molars that I know can’t be saved. I’m too terrified of the dentist to go and don’t know how to make myself go.

Hope you can get it sorted Flowers

DragonMamma · 04/11/2018 11:51

I agree with pp’s that they need a good clean with the hygienist. I also use the Oral B whitening strips from America regularly and they are great - don’t make my teeth sensitive and are noticeably whiter.

Once you’ve got them deep cleaned, make sure you use a decent electric toothbrush to stop the build up happening again.

Thanks everyone..I don't think it's build up...it's the fillings in between my teeth which are disclosured....would a good
Clean help?

I would try professional whitening and hygienist first. Possibly veneers but it’s a lot of work and costs a fortune. I have just two and it was nearly £2000.

WhirlyGigWhirlyGig · 04/11/2018 19:23

You'd be amazed what a good hygienist can do to improve the appearance of teeth. And yes it looks like yours need doing. It costs £50 for half an hour where I live so not extortionately expensive. If I skip an appointment I can feel it in my teeth.

Thank you everyone...shall report back!!
