...what can I expect?

OP posts:

they will take all your makeup off and sit you in front of a mirror by a big north facing window
you will shudder at how clearly your wrinkles etc show

they will wrap a hair-dresser-type cape round your neck and swathe you with a series of different fabric swatches

you will gasp at how haggard some make you look and breathe a sigh of relief at others.

they will diagnose what colour you are (spring, deep/clear etc depending on where you go)

they then go through all the swatches for that 'season' and make notes about which suit you best

they might put makeup on you after that, depends where yuou are and what's included

and give you advice on stuff like glasses, jewellery, accessories etc

and give you a little booklet of swatches and info to take away with you

DO NOT be sceptical till you have gone to a shop and tried on actual clothes in recommended colours

princessmel · 18/06/2007 15:23

And how much do they charge you for that???

Katymac · 18/06/2007 15:28

I had mine done when I was PG (& very fat & uncomfortable) I did it for a few months then in baby fatigue it all went to pot

I found it a few months ago (DD is 9)

All the clothes I wear loads are in my colours and the ones I don't wear aren't

However it didn't stop me buying the wrong ones

dressedupnowheretogo · 18/06/2007 15:34

be prepared to spend huge amounts if youve always wore the wrong stuff or be very smug when you realise you were right all along

make sure you apply the rules to your hair too and you will look extra fab

it does work
MIL got it for me as a christmas present 18m ago and, apart from inspiring me to have a wardrobe cull for the first time in years, it made it much easier to dress.

Went desperately shopping for matwear last weekend and got a pale blue top that was comfy and reduced and fitted round the bump.
Blue is one of my huge no-nos but I was desperate

tried it on again at home and it made me look truly abominable - tired and haggard and pale - not even worth the cheapness / comfort / fitting factor. Took it back.

eys oyu will haet what they tell you to wear
then have an epiphany in a few o months time

HuwEdwards · 18/06/2007 16:20

I wear a lot of green and brown and always have done, so will see if it changes much from that

Ifyou had enough swatches and a mirror in front of a north facing window, do you think you could do it yourself?

pania · 18/06/2007 20:21

I say this because I would LOVE to get mine done, but the only colour analyst I found in m area looked like she needed some help herself...

princessmel · 18/06/2007 21:15

Thanks HuwE.

I think if you had no idea about your wardrobe and what suited you or fancied a huge change then it would be worth it. But I personally feel that I dress ok and that I think I wear the right things, for me. I wonder if its all wrong ... Hmmm...

pania · 18/06/2007 22:01

How do you apply the rules to your hair?

MrsBadger · 18/06/2007 22:32

don't dye it a colour that doesn't suit you

eg I have 'warm' (ie yellowish) skin and would look stupid with raven-black or platinum-blonde hair, but fine with warm browns or reds.
