Hate my dry knotty long curly hair!

It's always knotty, I can't brush it or it goes frizzy, imagine a huge ball of frizz!
I've stopped using silicon products because I thought it was making it dull and dry in the end. I can't keep buying new products that don't work.

Please recommend shampoo, conditioner and leave in products. I've no patience for sitting for hours with coconut oil on wrapped in a towel. It probably needs a good cut, but whenever I go to the hairdresser they mess it up. I can't afford expensive hairdressers. My daughter trims the ends- all one length.

Look up "Luna by Lisa" she does a fab leave in conditioner and Is great for untangling curls.. I spray it on my brish when hair is wet and spray the ends of my hair and brush goes straight through

I’ve not brushed my hair for 3 years!
I wrap it in a t shirt whilst getting ready then apply a bit if curl mousse and diffuse dry without scrunching as the curl is quite delicate. It’s shoulder length. Then spray a bit of sea salt spray when completely dry.
I use Palmers co-wash, the olive oil one or the coconut one, from Amazon . I used NewWash for a year but it’s just too expensive.

No brushing curly hair ever! I haven't brushed my curly hair in years. If you can't run your fingers through it freely after the shower, it hasn't got enough product in it. Max I'd ever use would be an Afro comb but I don't even bother with that now.

I like Boucleme and Jessicurl - Jessicurl's website also has some v helpful videos of different curly hair with styling advice.

Thanks for the tips. I don't brush it, but comb with a wide tooth comb when I've put conditioner on. Even then it's knotty and difficult to comb.

I've got a microfiber towel somewhere abd can't find it Blush

I've no one to give me hair dresser recommendations sadly.

Yy, to curly girl method. I found when I first started it took a while to start to rehydrate, so don't expect an instant change. It might also take a while to decide if you need to low poo (curly girl friendly shampoo) or co-wash (use a conditioner to wash) or a mixture. I went through a very dry stage, thanks hormones, but have been using Cantu leave in conditioner which is about £7 from Superdrug, which has really helped.

You could try sleeping in a sleep bonnet to reduce tangling.

If you say what area you live in people might be able to help with curly hairdressers for you. I go to Vicky Queen of Curls in Manchester

I've started cg, my hair didn't feel great and the curls aren't even but it's not awful. It's still knotty tho ...

I have really similar hair to yours. I tried the curly girl method for about 6 months but it really dried out my hair Confused. I went back to shampoo and silicone products. Much better. The best product I've used is a serum from savers that cost a quid. There is no correlation between cost and effect for me.

Shampoo and conditioner don't seem to make much difference. Although the conditioner from the l'oreal hair dye is great.

I smooth a bit of coconut oil on the ends of my hair. A bit of the cheapo serum then twist my hair into about 6 fat twists to dry. If I have time, I put loads of olive oil or coconut oil in my hair before washing. Two shampoos then the same after care. I may twist it into a bun and leave to dry overnight. The day after it will as frizz free as possible for me to achieve.
