Will these Doc Martens stretch enough for my wide (bloody) feet?

I need to decide whether or not to return for a refund because I can’t afford £100+ pair of boots I’ll never be able to wear.

They’re lovely, I actually love them, but I have wiiiiide feet - toe area feels comfortable but across the top is very tight.

I know leather can and will stretch but where they feel tightest is around the base of the tongue/ bottome eyelet area. So, given that this is the area with stitching, how likely is it they’ll stretch?

I would say return as my husband had same issue he persevered but the leather split in those places after 6 months. I think stretching weakened it and then they creased there when you walk

I have a a habit of kidding myself that shoes really aren't that tight on my stupid wide feet. I tried it with a pair of Doc's and ended up ebaying them. Despite wearing thick socks and using the leather balm i didn't notice any significant stretching. I've also found that anything involving stitched areas won't stretch at all. Wish I could be the bearer of better news.

That’s helpful, thank you.
I’m going to return them, I got a pair of Fly London boots this morning which feel like heaven and comparable quality so no point in battling with the DMs in the hope they’ll be ok.

What Fly boots did you get OP? I have exactly the same problem with docs and am always on the look out for ideas for alternatives.

@manicloki I got a pair of these, they’re called Salv.
They have lots of colours and I actually only got the green because they were the only colour in my size available on the amazon try before you buy thing, I intended to check the fit and return for a pair in black or brown if they fitted - but I absolutely love the colour so I’m keeping them!
They feel completely soft and smooth inside, so nothing to rub or cause pain/blisters. Bonus, they also make my feet look smaller!
