Alter wool coat?

I've seen a coat that I really like but it's too long on me. But I love it otherwise. How difficult is it to get it taken up? Will it still look the same or ruin it? It's quite expensive Blush

I think it depends entirely on the style - is there a split in it that you'd need to move higher up? Are there any pockets in the way??

If there isn't anything in the way it should be straightforward, but will need a careful hand to make sure the lining is reattached neatly etc.

So this is the coat. There is a slit at the back, but will that need to be moved?

That looks fine to take up - but check where the back split would be against the final length. You don't want a split 1" long so id either keep it a bit longer or cut it out completely.

But if you're going with the 2nd option Ted Baker have a very similar coat in short length.

If you like a longer coat (just not this long) if take 6" - 8" off the bottom and it looks like that should leave you with a 6"ish split?

I'd like a long coat but I'm short so this comes mid/low calf on me. I'd prefer it to be just past the knee. I'll have a look and see what my tailor says 🤷🏽‍♀️
