Breast reduction

harajukubabe · 29/10/2018 19:08

Anyone had it done?
Anyone had it done abroad in Europe?
How did you choose a surgeon?

I am seriously contemplating, UK or Europe.

Am a 34ff with prolapsed discs possible due to weight of breasts.

Don't want to do it on NHS as too long a wait and I want control of when I can do this.

Any tips of recovery? Thing I am most concerned about is losing sensitivity in my nipples.

I had it done privately exactly a year ago in scotland and it was life changing. I was a 32g and I'm now a 32 c/d not exactly sure as I only wear bralette or crop tops now. I swore I'd never wear an underside bra ever again Smile.

I chose my surgeon with Google and she was voted one of the top surgeons in the UK. She was excellent.

Recovery was as expected, I had 3 weeks off work and my scars healed nicely. I do have big scars though, but I honestly don't care. Still have sensitivity but again if I didn't I wouldn't care. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

harajukubabe · 29/10/2018 19:54

How bad are the scars?

My breasts were one of my best features until in had kids. Now I am matronly. Have been thinking about this for a while but now I really want to do something about it but don't know how to find a surgeon.

MissMarple whereabouts did you get it done if you don’t mind me asking. I’m in Scotland and this is soemthing I am considering.

I suffer from back & neck pain, size 32HH and my doctor just won’t consider giving me a reduction on the NHS so I will have to pay for it myself. I do have about 3 stone to lose, but I’m not hopeful that my breasts will reduce that much (I have been a size 8/10 before and my cup size was an F) x

MissMarple11 · 29/10/2018 21:47

I suppose 'bad' is subjective. They are long and red but don't bother me. I know what you mean matronly though. I feel like I look how I should now.
I got mine at Ross hall and had excellent care. It's almost impossible to get it on the nhs now apparently.
You can get a consultation and see how you feel. Words can't really describe how great it feels when they're gone.

Passthebubbly · 29/10/2018 22:10

I had a reduction and uplift in scotland 3 years ago now. I was lopsided so they were even upped and lifted. Best thing I ever done.

I researched all the surgeons at the place I had decided on then had a consultation with the one I felt was right for me. No regrets. I have lost sensation in my nipples but still worth it. My scars are not bad when I look down I don’t see them it’s only when I look in the mirror but as time has gone on they continue to fade.

Recovery was fine - nowhere near as bad as I was expecting. The worst bit was the bandages over the scars as they were very tight but they were removed after 1 week. I recommend a breast feeding u shape cushion for sleeping as it can be hard to get comfy to start I found that helped a lot. 3 years on my only regret is waiting along as I did.

Bugjune · 30/10/2018 00:02

Mrs Kat did mine in Birmingham, worth travelling for. I'm very fair skinned so it took longer than normal for scars to fully fade (they were pinkish for well over a year) but they're so fine and white now you have to be actively looking to spot them.

She did an uplift at the same time and it's taken years off me from the neck down. Only thing is my stomach looks huge now in comparison to my neat, perky new bosom.Grin

Go for it!

Passthebubbly · 30/10/2018 10:06

Lol bugjune I agree with the stomach thing!!!

MissMarple11 · 30/10/2018 10:45

Me too and so does everyone else I've ever spoken to Smile.

harajukubabe · 30/10/2018 17:55

Would you then suggest a tummy tuck too?

I recently got approval for an NHS one, am booked in the spring, but seriously considering going private just before xmas, so that I have more help around after - dd will be home from uni for three weeks for xmas holidays, plus DH will be around more.I quite fancy the idea of xmas on the sofa while everyone else deals with everything. I am currently a 32K, surgeon is aiming for about E/F. I'd have liked smaller, but he feels that will be a good cosmetic result, and that I can expect to lose about 4 lbs in weight. He has said I will feel very unbalanced for a while - like I'm going to keel backwards, and that proportionally I will see myself very differently, as everything currently overshadowed by boobs.

MissMarple11 · 30/10/2018 18:15

No.....It's said in jest. When you have big boobs you never noticed your stomach.
ilovecherries, ifi was you you i'd go for a second opinion in what size you can go down to. I think an e/f is still big. You'll wish you were smaller after.

ilovecherries · 30/10/2018 18:35

missmarple, I was thinking that, although my dd is a 30F and she does really loook quite tiny - but that might just be perspective! If I go private, it will be to rosshall - do you mind me asking if it was Eva Mithoff who did yours? I'm considering making an appt with her just to discuss size really - no chance of a second nhs opinion!

ilovecherries · 30/10/2018 18:38

Actually, am probably talking myself into going private for the surgery as well. I would be beyond gutted if the funding was withdrawn and now I know its happening, I want it done sooner rather than later.

MissMarple11 · 30/10/2018 19:29

Yes it was and she is amazing. She only works privately one day a week. She works in the nhs doing reconstructive surgery for cancer patients and I think she done a perfect job on me. I honestly can't tell you how happy I am now. I'm about a size 12 and I look in proportion now. I couldn't go any smaller as my boobs start almost under my arms. I'm waffling a bit but a year later I'm still so glad I did it.

ilovecherries · 30/10/2018 20:00

She sounds pretty amazing from her bio. So glad you are happy with it. I’m also a size 12, but currently very out of proportion and can really only wear jersey clothing on my top half.

MissMarple11 · 30/10/2018 20:08

Go see her she'll tell you everything you need to know. Unless there is some medical/physical reason I honestly think you'll regret not going smaller. She told me she couldn't guarantee what size id be and a lot of the discussion was about about the things that can go wrong but it's the reality of such an invasive procedure. It'll be Interesting though if she contradicts anything you were told before. I really don't know the difference of nhs vs private I just knew I wanted it to be her to do it.

harajukubabe · 31/10/2018 12:07

ICherries, I am a FF or am F, I feel big. I would reconsider going to this... but perhaps it also depends on your height etc. I am only 5.3

So I am googling to find an appropriate surgeon where I am
Located (not UK). But apparently this is the place to be for plastic surgery in Western Europe.

How much it it to do this privately in the uk?

CrazySheepLady · 31/10/2018 13:36

I had a breast reduction done approx 25 years ago so can give you some idea on what to expect longer term with scars.

The scars only get red now & then if a underside digs in, but the scars are most definitely still visible. However, don't let that put you off if you really want the surgery. I still have sensitivity, too.

What I will say is please always always watch your weight. The doctor said they'd grow back if I put on weight and he was right.

harajukubabe · 01/11/2018 12:11

Thank you crazysheep.

I lost almost 10kg 2 years ago. Boobs stayed same. Now I have put back on all that weight. Same size boobs. It's not that bad but I look really matronly which is making me dislike my pics and the clothes I have to wear etc.
Plus I can't run because of the boobs... etc...

I did have 2 c sections. Scars are almost invisible so I am okay with that amount of scarring.
