Make Up Lessons?

Hello all,

I am planning, starting nowish but throughout 2019, to work on myself (self confidence reasons) and one of the things I would like to learn is how to make the most of make up - I can do basics & usually just wear BB cream, blush and mascara...I just don't feel I am enhancing myself as much as I could?

Would you recommend getting a proper lesson from a make up artist or try and learn myself from YouTube? If so, any recommendations for either? I am in Hampshire!

Thanks in advance xx

Lisa Eldridge's make up tutorials on Youtube are really good - she's clear and down-to-earth, and uses a lot of high street products amongst the expensive ones. Her tutorials range from the very basic (eg, how to apply foundation/do a winged eye, etc) to more complicated techniques and fancy-pants occasion make up.

I did a session at a Bobbi brown counter which I found really helpful as I could ask questions and it was on my actual face rather than watching someone else do theirs iyswim! They’re free and you pick from a list of looks (I was going to a wedding so wanted to get an idea of long lasting make up) and I’ve applied the things I learnt to my day to day routine. I didn’t get a hard sell either, I just went out and picked more affordable products and googled dupes for the products they recommended that I liked. Since then I’ve looked up tutorials etc and I think the combo of both has been really helpful.

Mac counters are usually pretty good. In London they'll do a 90 minute make up lesson for £50 (may have gone up since I did it), but it was redeemable against products.

Thanks all. Will get googling first and if I don't get anywhere/improve then I will ask at a counter. Xx
