Has anyone tried the L'Oreal steampod 2.0, long term?

Hi,
I recently bought the L'Oreal steampod 2.0 to use on my thick, wavy, frizzy hair. Have tried it once a week for the last 2 weeks, at the 180C setting and seems good so far (really like that it doesn't given that ironed flat look that usual straighteners do) AND seems to make my hair look healthier (it is actually quite dry and damaged from years back).

I wanted to ask about the long term effects of using the steampod 2.0 - how long have you been using it? How many times per week? What temp setting? Does it end up damaging and drying your hair out in the long term?)

Thanks a lot :)

P.S if anyone has questions for me regarding the steampod, let me know and I can try to answer as well :)

I'm waiting for my old ghds to die and then I'm hoping to get a steam pod.
is the result somewhat similar to the babyliss big hair?

I've never tried the babyliss big hair so no idea how it compares. I do think it's a lot better than ghds (for now)

I heard about the Steampod about 3 or 4 years ago and have ummed and aahed about getting it several times.
However, one of the things that put me off was some people who reviewed it said it did long term damage to their hair.
I wasn't surprised given that it uses steam, which is wet heat, and as per my understanding if you are scalded it's worse than a dry burn so I assume the same applies to the hair concept.
A lot of people also complained about their water tank starting to leak which didn't sound good.
The other thing that has made me a bit sceptical is that hair straightening is a huge industry, there's this new technique of using steam which has been around for a while now and yet, none of the other companies have jumped on the bandwagon and released their own version of Steampod. Odd no?

I’ve got a steampod that I’ve had for about 9 months and use about 3 times a week.

I don’t think it has damaged my hair at all and would say straightening with my GHD’s in the past was much more damaging.

The bad things are that it’s too bulky really to pack to take away anywhere and that it does have a slight flat smell when using it - like a steam iron smell, sort of utilitarian. But I don’t notice the smell in my hair afterwards.

Overall, I love it. Really like how it creates a much more natural style than straightening, and it is very fast.

Ive used it for 2 years. My hair is damaged but I think that’s more from the post baby shed and a 6 month old pulling It whenever he can. My hair is naturally very thick, wavy and frizzy as the top and roots are still in good condition so I’m pleased with it. When I used GHDs it was dry and brittle right up to the top of my hair. I’ve definitrly found it to be a much gentler way I managing my hair. I am lazy with it and quite often don’t use the cream though! (Or I even forget to put water in it 🙈)

I've had mine since March 2015, best straighteners I've ever used in terms of kindness to hair.

I still have to use thinner plated ones around my hairline if I'm going out for a night out), and as pp said, they're not great for travelling or very portable.
