I have an appointment this afternoon with a personal stylist and now I'm panicking. Does anyone have any tips for how to get the most out of it? I've lost some weight so need new clothes but I also want some help with how to dress in a more stylish/"grown up" way than my usual jeans and hoodies.

Be open minded, try things you normally wouldn’t.

Don’t be afraid to say you don’t like sometnjng. When you arrive, they’ll have a rack of things prepared and you can look at them and see what you think. If things really aren’t for you, she’ll go get different stuff.

You’re not obliged to buy anything.

Check the washing instructions - quite a few of the more expensive brands are dry clean only.

Good luck!

Thank you, that's excellent advice.

Be clear about where you'll wear the stuff. No point buying if it doesn't fit with your lifestyle. Which days of the week do you struggle to look 'together'? Work, weekend or evenings out? Enjoy! I'm jealous, so please report back on how it goes.

Oh, I hope you enjoy it!

Considering doing this for jeans so interested to know how it went.

If you like an item that you wouldn’t normally wear, get it as part of a whole outfit. I’ve made the mistake before of loving a skirt but then not having any tops that go with it so it never gets worn.

How’s your underwear drawer? A well fitting bra makes a tonne of difference, especially if you’re large of nork.

Let us know how it goes!

Thank you for all the advice everyone. It went well, it wasn't nearly as intimidating as I feared! She basically showed me that I've been wearing all the wrong colours and that I can wear much shorter skirts than I thought. She showed me lots of things I'd never have picked out myself. I bought a skirt, top and dress which I really like. I also bought a top and two jumpers which I like but will be looking for cheaper versions of.
