How do Trinny and other 50+ yr old celebrities have such incredible skin?

Cooloncraze · 27/10/2018 10:29

I’ve just watched Oceans 8 and can’t believe how incredible Cate Blanchett and Sandra Bullock look.
I’m 10 years younger and really try to follow good skincare regimes and use sunscreen but my skin is so much more lined than theirs already.

Trinny Woodall also has completely line-free smooth skin!

Is it down to fillers/ Botox or good genes or diet or products?

Trinny is chock full of fillers and Botox.

It's no mystery how people get good skin. Botox for wrinkles, fillers for volume and then lasers/peels/acids/retinol/spf for skintone, plus nutrition and good genes too of course.

Gwynfluff · 27/10/2018 10:33

In regards to the particular person you cite, you have seen recent photos? It would appear all of the treatments you mention are in heavy usage. I think it actually distorts the face and makes it look slightly odd. I do slightly worry when it starts to be perceived as normal skin for that age group such that people are wondering ‘what the secret is?’

Biologifemini · 27/10/2018 10:34

Botox and fillers
And they do eat well and have reasonable skin care and make up.

Raydan · 27/10/2018 10:38

Oh I sympathize @Cooloncraze. In addition to Botox and fillers they would use non surgical facelifts and peels, and possibly thread facelifts. If you're struggling with lines some retinol will perk your skin right up! (As long as you're not pregnant or breastfeeding). theordinary.com/product/rdn-advanced-retinoid-2pct-30ml?ccm=6afb414ca0a748bd85ed7ead6c4e6729f133993f2fd49d2697d9aa1f3700dc05f70102cb1d00da802a8fe86a4f7a904b2cc58b019d79610ab89b7e00b33f328bc753a4096d6833cfdfd104393f7b6d2e0386f3ab0da30ffe9cd75b826f6222b714b4e5a24310106a95608579f18f11003e5007b3bf29c0915941142baee82ca7fe65f7015e60a3791d1836c429329716&ccvis=1

Well - to be a female actress you will already be blessed in the gene pool. Then add mild surgical enhancement (Botox etc) and a team of people to help you with your appearance

LaCerbiatta · 27/10/2018 11:45

Watching Oceans 8 made me so sad and angry ☹. All these beautiful talented actresses who feel the need to wreck their faces like that.. What's wrong with having a normal face? Cate Blantchet was always an example of natural beauty and also now is looking fake and distorted. What a sad message they're giving....

HerculesTheBerkules · 27/10/2018 12:15

Me too LaCerbiatta. An all female cast with 3 women over 40 isn't so inspirational when all 3 women look 30 and are chock full of Botox, fillers and all the rest.

Mercurial123 · 27/10/2018 12:33

It's pretty obvious Trinny has botox and fillers though she makes no secret of it.

MargotLovedTom1 · 27/10/2018 12:43

I watched Wonder yesterday and it was so refreshing (and surprising in a way sadly) to see how normal Julia Roberts appeared. She looked like a 50 year old woman, albeit a very attractive one with a good figure.
Haven't seen Ocean's 8 but I can imagine the look to which you refer.

Bluntness100 · 27/10/2018 12:46

Cate blanchett doesn't look fake and distorted, that smacks of envy, she clearly loooks fantastic.

AnnaMagnani · 27/10/2018 12:48

Their skincare is done by dermatologists not beauty counters.

Every single one of them will be on Retin A, not retinol, botox, fillers etc.

Plus when you see them on screen they have a face full of makeup. On a still photo, it's photoshopped too.

In real life, they prob look good, but not totally amazing good.

Cooloncraze · 27/10/2018 12:49

Thanks @Raydan I’ll try the retinol or and see if I transform into Cate Blanchett!
I do admire actresses who age without interfering with their looks surgically... they tend to have amazing bone structures though (like the older models in The Guardian magazine).
Ageing is just a bit demoralising sometimes 🙄

Watching Oceans 8 made me so sad and angry

Me too! I saw it in the cinema and kept missing dialogue because I was so distracted by how fake and weird they both looked. and really harsh eye make up. It did not look good to me.

I know this is the Daily Mail...but it’s also Michael Mosley

Kewqueue · 27/10/2018 13:21

Don't judge them in films as it is all lighting and make up!

Ollivander84 · 27/10/2018 13:39

Lighting, makeup, Botox
These are all me. V little editing on the photo but I'm being lit by a ring light, and have fairly heavy makeup on
The next is a selfie, not edited, taken before the pro photo
The next is no makeup, tired and bad lighting

Good genes help enormously

Most of the rest is make up and lighting.

Bluntness100 · 27/10/2018 13:57

Yes make up and lighting can make a difference.

People always comment I have really good skin, I do have decent skin, but I wear a really great foundation that evens out my skin tone and it makes a huge difference.

Botox, fillers, can all make a difference if someone doesn't go too far, and is done subtly.

There is nothing wrong with ageing, but let's face it, few people in middle age see greying or thinning hair, wrinkles, saggy jowls, eye bags, etc as something to aspire to. Male or female.

bionicnemonic · 27/10/2018 14:05

Ollivander84 even in the ‘tired’ shot you can see you’ve got great skin!

Ollivander84 · 27/10/2018 14:14

bionic - I actually don't I have quite bad acne, hormonal breakouts mostly but some times of the month it's better!
I'm wearing double wear in the other photos as I need the coverage

Ollivander84 · 27/10/2018 14:19

Disclaimer that I'm not 50 however my mum has aged incredibly well but she swears it's down to having very oily skin. She's a lot darker in colouring than me (very dark olive tones) which seems to have helped

MeanQueenHalloween · 27/10/2018 14:19

Human growth hormone. It's a thing.

Raydan · 27/10/2018 14:52

@Cooloncraze it can cause redness and peeling to begin with. If it does, reduce usage while your skin adjusts and then slowly increase. It's important to use good sunscreen while using retinol.

It's all so depressing though. It's like an arm's race. I buy into it all too much but try to stay sane by avoiding Botox, fillers and surgery and social media...the standards are just too high! Angry

Helpmepleasenow48 · 27/10/2018 16:27

Ollivander84 looks great in all of those. But I get her point! Watching Oceans 8 tonight!

themagicamulet · 27/10/2018 16:38

Yy to makeup and lighting. Pampered Wolf (youtuber) is great on this very point. She is only in her late 30s I think but has adult acne, dark shadows etc - the before and afters on her vids are really interesting.
