Hair help required

I have naturally very dry hair.

It WAS a lovely colour, ashy dark blonde & I was happy.

But then. I got bored. So I had ombré style highlights. They were great. Sobs. But I felt at the time it was too light, and despite being easy to maintain, in a fit of madness I bought a home dye to get it back to its original colour.

It was something ashy.

It went green.

So I went to hairdresser to have it corrected and it went a bit too red. Lovely but doesn't suit my skin tone.

That was years ago and basically now following colour b4 colour strips and various dyes I'm now nursing shorter seriously dry hair.

And now, the final kick in the nuts, I've spotted greys.

My hair has seriously hurt feelings and I'm a real kerastase and Kiehls fan, used the apogee protein treatment, but nothing to any avail.

I am looking for some non-salon help please (I say non-salon because I've lost some faith and I do not want ammonia near my hair).

Some of the ends are doing that curled up frazzle thing despite all my efforts to nurture it.

I will also have to use semi perm dyes to disguise greys but don't want red tones and I'll be damned if I can find anything that isn't red and if describes ashy doesn't make my hair go seriously dark.

TIA
