Clothes sizing

I've recently gone from a uk size 12 on top to a size 14. Depending on shop though I am different sizes for a comfortable fit - size 14 Boden, xxl uniqlo, large in whistles and I don't even fit in a large in jigsaw.
Does anyone else find this?

Clothes sizing is often inconsistent within a brand let alone between different brands. Try not to be discouraged and just buy what fits without focusing on the number/label if you can. If you have not changed size then an arbitrary distinction by a clothing company means nothing for you personally other than the logistical hassle of figuring it out.

Clothes sizes are very different between brands depending on their main market I'd say. So the older the typical customer, partly the bigger the clothes come for a given size, and the shapes are different. Some brands just don't fit me regardless of size, they're just shaped wrong for me.

I've found online the sizing guides have got much better in the last year or so - where you fill in weight, height age, shape etc. H&M's isn't bad though I find their bottoms come up too small on me & their tops too big if I follow the size guide so I have to take account of that (there's also always the one absolutely randomly sized item with H&M Grin ). Uniqlo's I've found works perfectly for me even though I'm buying what I'd expect to be the 'wrong' size.

Also I think these days with free delivery/free returns the answer is often to buy 2 sizes so you can try both.

Clothing sizes are all over the place. It needs regulating because with the disappearance of high street stockists, were all forced to shop online. It’s soooo frustrating having to order a number of sizes in the hope something will fit and then needing to send the remainder back. The wider issue is all the plastic packaging and fuel it takes for unnecessary deliveries/returns,
