Best footwear with slim jeans if walking several miles a day

Hi,
I've finally traded in my bootcuts for a pair of slim jeans but don't know what to wear on my feet.
I walk upwards of 5 miles a day on the school run so need something comfy and fairly light but am sick of trainers.
I normally live in jeans, vest tops, hoodies and trainers and need something slightly less breastfeeding mum now.
Muffin top and chunky thighs a-go unfortunately Sad

I have a pair of vegan DMs and find them great for days when I’m on my feet/walking a lot. If DMs aren’t your style maybe shop around for a good pair of comfy boots?

I often wear brown or black lace up ‘worker’ boots with jeans tucked in and a chunky knit. I also have a pair of vegan Timberland type boots in grey and they are amazingly comfy and look good with jeans.

Chelsea boots? (I have Clarks Taylor Shine)

Undercoverbanana · 22/10/2018 17:01

Second shout for Vegan DMs.

anniehm · 22/10/2018 17:04

Merrells or other low rise hiking boots/shoes. Or Clark's do lots of designs with cushioned soles. Hotter is also great for comfort but they are a bit old fashioned

Branleuse · 22/10/2018 17:06

i wear my classic DM 8 holes day in day out unless its really hot or really cold, and then its birkenstocks, or thermal walking boots

RatBabies · 22/10/2018 17:09

I came on to say DMs as well Grin

PerverseConverse · 22/10/2018 17:45

Thanks everyone! I'm not a DMs kind of person but do have some Merrill low rose hiking shoes. They are a little big as my actual size was too small but the half size up too big. Will have to get some good insoles. I have really narrow feet which doesn't help and every dongle shoe or boot rubs. Even trainers. I have awkward feet Sad

Fitflop shoes and boots are comfy. I’d still go for Supergas though.

ChintzTeapot · 22/10/2018 17:53

DM do quite a few boots that dont look doc marten-y so including these which I'm for dh to get me for christmas Grin

I have the leather chelsea boots from Asda and the day I bought them I went out for a 5 mile walk without breaking them in. They are amazingly comfy.

TooMinty · 22/10/2018 19:27

Fly do similar Chelsea boots for around £80 I think

californiascreaming · 22/10/2018 21:08

I like a waterproof boot. Currently have some from ugg and they are fab. Currently coveting these ones www.ugg.com/uk/cheyne-waterproof-ankle-boot/1095154.html?dwvar_1095154_color=CSHL#start=37&cgid=women-ankle-boots

Andcake · 22/10/2018 21:12

How hard wearing and waterproof are vegan dms been tempted...

Veganfortheanimals · 22/10/2018 21:16

I can't wear my dms ,because the sole hurts my feet ,I've worn them for years and now suddenly I'm in to much pain....I've bought some Nike air max trainers....and I'm pain free...but I feel odd as I'm not a trainer person

IAmGrootGrootGroot · 22/10/2018 22:53

I love my timberland Nellie chukkas. Lower round the ankle than usual timberlands so they look abit more feminine IMO.

If you look on the timberland website, they often have good sales. I got mine for £46, reduced from £130! Absolute bargain.
Completely waterproof as well.

NeurotrashWarrior · 22/10/2018 23:06

I have to have flexible Shoes now. Camper beetle and peu are good.

Skittlesandbeer · 22/10/2018 23:07

Another vote for timberland. Even the higher ones. There are loads of alternative styles & colours these days. I’m a big fan of the canvas mix ones, it’s like a mesh. Not sure if they’re current, but you always find lots of timberlands on eBay (new too).

FreeButtonBee · 22/10/2018 23:44

Sorel joanie boots. So comfy. I wore mine today with denim culottes but normally wear with skinny jeans and a long pair of funky socks (currently leopard print) slouched over the top.

ColinsVeryJolly · 23/10/2018 08:07

Converse are the only thing that are comfy for me with skinny feet. I can walk miles in mine.

Although I have recently bought a pair of £8 primark Chelsea boots which are surprisingly comfy, not particularly hard wearing for lots of walking though.

PerverseConverse · 23/10/2018 08:29

I'm going to have to do some searching for something within my budget (charity shop!). I had a pair of converse and they ripped my heels apart and were heavy and split in the sides where I bend my foot. My daughters love their's though. I think my heels and ankles are slightly deformed Sad I do like ankle boots, especially the biker style ones. I'm just not sure I could walk far in them. I need something snug on my foot. I'm sounding very negative I know but 40 years of not being able to wear things I like because they don't fit or rub has made me quite miserable about footwear. I live in Skechers or walking sandals but desperately want a new style.

Converse are good for narrow feet. Give them another go. (Real ones not copies)
Children's DMs are narrower than adult ones and come in half sizes.
Clarks do a few styles in a narrow fit
Carvella are quite narrow and so are Dune.

Red or Dead are wide
Fly are wide

Branleuse · 23/10/2018 09:55

I cant wear converse as they have no cushioning on the sole. I get a lot of pain if im pounding the pavements in them. May as well be wearing nothing
