Makeup - healthy glow look

At the moment I'm using Laura M foundation. It's nice but I feel like my complexion looks a bit flat so am thinking of getting a tinted moisturiser for the summer. Yes or no? Skin is prone to both dry & oily patches (and at the moment an outbreak of spots - ugh!). Is a tinted moisturiser likely to give enough coverage or should I stick to foundation? Am obviously using a blusher at moment as well as a little bronzer but I'm not confident with the bronzer so go for a very light touch. Maybe I just need to update my blusher colour. Any advice please as I feel very dowdy!!

Clinique does some good stuff ime. I have this bronzer - it looks really nice.

If I were you I would go to a counter in a department store. Also, I phoned Clinique today and they said they will send me free samples so perhaps do that and get some different things to try.

this is amazing. Bit too glowy for winter, but perfect for summer, and has spf and anti-oxidants as well.

electra · 15/06/2007 23:39

That looks great...

CuttingCod · 16/06/2007 09:15

o gopt he clinique bronzer to
g et a crema blusher 0- macs pink one is great

twinsetandpearls · 16/06/2007 17:13

I have this from benefit that really lifts my complexion.

I don't use foundation in the summer although bebefit also do a verygood tinted moisturiser that has tempted me.

prufrock · 16/06/2007 17:15

I have that too tsap. Is the tinted moisturiser the "yourebel" - if so, it's good, but a bit too matt for summer I find. i use the benefit one in winter and the estee lauder in summer

twinsetandpearls · 16/06/2007 17:17

i use this cream blush also form benefit and sometimes a hint of high beam

My sister who is darker than me loves glamazon I am not sure if you use it as you do the benetint whihc is one of my winter staples.

DrNortherner · 16/06/2007 17:19

Cheek tint/glace is better than a creme blush I find, you get a more dewy youthful look.

twinsetandpearls · 16/06/2007 17:20

yes that is the one, I have never bought it the lady in the shop used it on me as I still have a clarins one going strong.

Instead of a foundation I have used benefits get even which balances out my skin tone

twinsetandpearls · 16/06/2007 17:21

I love cheek timts and adore my benetint which is the best one I have ever used but I am loving the colour of my cream blush at the moment.

twinsetandpearls · 16/06/2007 17:24

I some times use the clarins hydra care tinted moisturiser

DrNortherner · 16/06/2007 17:25

benetint is it good? i have avirgin vie one which I love. Look dead without it

twinsetandpearls · 16/06/2007 17:27

benetint is fab! I tried a copy version from Jemma Kids make up range as it was cheaper and it did not compare. One bottle lasts for ages as well.

twinsetandpearls · 16/06/2007 17:27

I found it when I was pregnant and I used to get complemented all the time on my glow.

LaDiDaDi · 16/06/2007 17:32

Benetint is lovely. I also reccommend Dandelion powder and Hoola bronzer from Benefit although Hoola is very matt.

I've never really managed with the high beam stuff, am I doing something wrong?

twinsetandpearls · 16/06/2007 17:34

You just have to becareful not to over use high beam, I use it on my cheek bone and eye bone. I don't really combine it with the sexy sweep powder unless I am going for a very glam evening look.

twinsetandpearls · 16/06/2007 17:35

Our benefit counter is fab, I regularly go there for make up tips and lessons.

LaDiDaDi · 16/06/2007 17:36

Ok, I will try some high beam tonight and see if my friends laugh!

DrNortherner · 16/06/2007 18:22

We don't have a benefit counter here.

twinsetandpearls · 16/06/2007 22:16

not even in your Boots, I live in a small town that is quite crappy for shopping but we have a benefit counter!

multitasker · 16/06/2007 22:19

Olay, Garnier and Nivea all do very acceptable tinted moisturisers. I haven't worn foundation in years - these creams really do give you a healthy glow.

Tutter · 16/06/2007 22:30

ooh ooh ooh

i started using a new tinted moisturiser a couple of weeks ago and i have had so many flattering comments (they all say "ooh you're blooming" - am 35 wks pg - but tis nothing to do with pgcy)

anyway, it's kiehls tintedd moisturiser - here

and i use a bit of clarins cream blush on top

Tutter · 16/06/2007 22:31

i find it a bit heavy to wear on its own though, so put on my regular moisturiser first, let that sink in, then put just a few dots of the kiehls stuff on top

prufrock · 16/06/2007 22:48

Did you know benetint was originally developed for use in the porn industry to make nipples look darker?

I love all the benefit range - absolutebest product of all time is Dr feelgood- it's like polyfilla for the face

twinsetandpearls · 16/06/2007 22:49

lol prufrock! I moght try it and see if dp nitices. It is advertised as giving a post sex glow I just assemed they meant my cheeks not my nipples!
