Would it be cruel to make DD wear

Long sleeved black t-Shirt under white/black Detail short-sleeved t-Shirt?

Seems a pity to put the short sleeved away for the winter. She's nearly 7, not overly fussed by what she wears. But she has no school uniform so it would be something she would wear to school.

As opposed to buying her vests and long sleeved t-shirts.

It's a fairly ordinary thing to wear but I'm confused by why you'd be making her wear it.

I buy her clothes. I do let her choose in a "You need a new t-shirt, these are the ones we could buy" kind of way but I don't involve her in budgeting for her clothes. Once it's in her wardrobe she can wear what she wants, but I feel I should at least provide clothes which are presentable together!

Often when she's too lazy or sleepy to get them out herself she asks me for clothes or asks what she should wear. She doesn't really care what she wears as long as it's comfy, I'm the same, which is why I wanted to check it was considered ok. Some of the children in her class have already started commenting on other people's clothes Shock

I wear long sleeve base layer tops under thinner/sleeveless things sometimes - some types of top would look a bit daft but others look fine.

Don't know what the issue is.
You buy DD clothes, DD wears them. Confused

I've been dressing toddler DD like this. As long as the long sleeved top is close fitting it's comfortable and looks nice imo.

Am I missing something? I've even googled "Detail (with a capital D) t-shirt" as I assumed it was going to be something special.

I'm wondering if there isn't some over thinking going on here?

But since you've asked, I would personally probably just put the long sleeved t-shirt over the short sleeved t-shirt. I don't think you'd be cruel to do it the other way round, as it is a "thing", but I'm just not sure why you would do it.

I dress my kids like this all the time. I seem to have more plain long-sleeved tops and more printed t shirts. I do colour-coordinate them a bit. I think it looks nice.

Loads of kids around here do it. We are in the Highlands and do winter well it seems to be a common thing when a jumper may be too hot for indoors but need a longer sleeve than the school polo shirt.
I am baffled by the people that would put the short on underneath but I’m maybe imagining a Looser fit t-shirt than they are.
