Something to cover my arms with this dress.

What would you wear with this to cover your arms? The colour is potentially a bit weird to match and I never know how to make a cardie look smart (I wear them most days).

I know the point of it is have the top on display but I have scars over the tops of my arms which I'd rather not show.

It's for a wedding and I've been in tears trying to find something with sleeves. I don't even know if this dress is any good for me as I've not ordered it yet. I'm a size 14, 5'3" with huge thighs and a big tummy.

I'm feeling rubbish about myself anyway and am finding this all very stressful and upsetting. Last night I was seriously considering pulling a sickie so I didn't have to go.

If you've read this and have any better suggestions or alternatives that I could wear, I'd love to see links.

Thank you

Arm covering is always a nightmare, I feel your pain. You might well like this dress with sleeves www.thehouseoffoxy.com/vintage-style-dresses/1950s-wrap-circle-dress-racing-green

It has a retro feel so how about a ..

A Jacket?
Cropped jacket?

bolero

Sheer and will hide scars perhaps?
Cropped cardigan?

Mrs Lettuce, thank you. That looks lovely and cosy. I find those neck lines difficult to wear though as I can't fill them and the fabric ends up gaping all over the place. BlushGrin

Slug - a cropped cardie might be cute but then it would turn the dress into a skirt which I'm not oppossed to but I wonder if it would be a bit too casual for a wedding?

A bolero would probably work but what colour? White makes me look ill.

I'm being pathetic. Confused

Gorgeous dress! When is the wedding? If it's winter could you maybe go for a vintage look fluffy wrap...?

lostinjapan · 19/10/2018 17:09

You can get this type of thing that you wear underneath the dress to cover your arms - perhaps in a cream colour?: bigredbox.com.au/Basic-12-Sleeve-Lace-Sleevey-Wonder-White--Plus_p_480.html

After getting so stressed about finding an arm coverer to wear to the last wedding I went to I vowed never to buy a sleeveless dress for a wedding again! I feel your pain. What about a cream fluffy cropped cardigan (a lot of fluffy things around this year) or faux fur shrug type thing? Alternatively if you want a colour, how about gold or cerise? Is it your whole arms you want covered or just the tops?

MrsLettuce · 19/10/2018 17:11

Oh that's a PITA. The cut of that dress is utter genius, it'd be worth trying if you can at all.

This might be nice www.nancymac.co.uk/collections/greens-of-every-hue/products/dolce-knot-dress-in-peridot-jacquard-1probably better on a smaller bust than it is on the model

This might work? www.nancymac.co.uk/collections/greens-of-every-hue/products/eliza-dress-in-emerald-crepe-2

legocardsagain · 19/10/2018 17:18

Does it need to be green?

How about this one? www.hotsquash.com/occassion-wear/emma-dress-with-buttons-occasion-print.html

Purest, it's in 2 weeks. I was a bridesmaid a few weeks ago and had to wear a dress with spaghetti straps. I looked and felt horrible and had a row with the bride because I wanted to wear a wrap. I never negatibely commented on the dress (it was yellow with spaghetti straps and a crowl neckline very odd and not flattring on any of us but was her choice). She knows about my arms so I thought she'd be understanding about wearing a wrap but she wasn't having it. I ended up telling her (nicely) that I would have to step down as bm in that case. She relented through gritted teeth but boy did that wrap annoy me all day! I spent the whole day pulling it back into place, picking the ends off the floor and trying to avoid dropping it into things. Grin

LostinJapan - they're clever. I shall have to have a look.

MrsLettuce - I LOVE Nancymac but it's out of my budget. Sob. I've been trying to find a way to justify something from there. Grin I'm failing.

Lego, I love those shaped dresses but the shape just doesn't work for me.

Thank you everyone for your help.

I would wear a cropped very fitted cardigan in cashmere in charcoal grey or black and go and pin on a big 50s style brooch on it. I think that would look great. Charity shops will have plenty to choose from.

Joinourclub - they have some nice stuff on there. Taking look now. Thanks.
