Recommendations - Foundation and skin care in 40s

I admit, I take terrible care of my skin. Its okay, I do use a good moisturiser every day and drink plenty of water but it's not great.
I seem to have a lot of visible pores - any suggestions for those? My friend has great skin but her routine seems to be an hour am and pm, I just don't have that time!

And any recommendations for good foundation? I used to have a great one that said it was a tinted moisturiser but the coverage was brilliant, evened out skin etc without highlighting wrinkles.
Unfortunately I am an idiot and cannot remember the name of it! I've tried several ones but they've all been a bit rubbish. Have gone to see the clinique lady but I wasn't impressed with their foundation (she was a bit barmy so maybe it was her choices Confused).
Price wise - not that bothered, I don't wear make up that often so it will last but equally won't say no to something cheap!

Recently I've been using bare minerals and I love it.

Ekphrasis · 14/10/2018 09:44

I've been with bare minerals for a while and after some freaking out over wrinkles and sun spots and looking at mineral spfs esp for eyes I realised the complexion rescue gel I've been using from them is actually the bees knees; I just don't use it much!

Ekphrasis · 14/10/2018 10:02

I sometimes use the powders but am moving towards using the gel more consistently.

For the spf I think you need more than you might normally use; it does sink in.

If a little shiny I put a little of the powder over but haven't looked at the mineral veil for a long time, that might be better, not sure.

I really, really rate the bronzer they do. I'm going to get a lighter one actually and use it more like a powder.

I have recently got into using the bare minerals and Bella Pierre kits (found luckily in tk Maxx). After years of committing the cardinal sin of slapping on foundation but not setting it, I'm getting more into the finishing powders and understanding their function. Current fave is the banana setting powder. Seems to give more of a healthy glow and blur to the imperfections. But I am too mean to pay full price so not sure what I will do when current supplies run low.

I just bought the bourjois cc cream after seeing it recommended on here. I really like it. It seems to cover red patches and dark circles without being too heavy.

Get thee onto the Trinny Woodall Facebook page (not her Trinny London makeup website) and she has great recommendations.

I use Dermalogica charcoal face wash, Kiehls oil, Vitamin C serum and Sarah Chapman moisturiser- plus hyalauronic acid when I remember. I do like Kiehls. My skin has never looked better (in late 40s).

After watching Trinny I did treat myself to timeless vitamin c serum which I love, but I do have lots of pregnancy induced freckles. She doesn't mention that one specifically but I did some extended research into the best one for price. First bottle lasted 2-3 months (shouldn't keep longer than this anyway) and I wrap it in foil.

Oh I read somewhere that Niacinamide is good for pores. The ordinary do one, not used tho.

Thank you for suggestions so far GrinFlowers I've never heard of any of these so off to do some research!
