What shoes with navy dresses

notmybag · 13/10/2018 22:26

I seem to be buying a lot of navy at the moment - work dresses and skirts.

What colour shoes? Navy shoes are tricky to find. I have some smart navy court shoes but could do with something flatter

Any suggestions for navy shoes?

White Converse if you're talking casual.
Tan smart shoes can look nice with a smart dress.
A lighter, brighter blue - like a sky blue? Actually I reckon lots of bright colours would look great - green, purple, yellow. Not red IMO though as that might look a bit overly military!

I like black patent shoes with navy

Proofer · 13/10/2018 23:02

Depends on the occasion - a nude court shoe would look lovely with work trousers/skirt, silver could look nice for a dressy occasion such as a wedding, tan loafers for casual?

MarthasGinYard · 13/10/2018 23:04

I like natural/nude with navy

Or something dramatic like lime or burnt orange

MaruMaru · 13/10/2018 23:04

Tan/ brown leather; nude, metallic depending on occasion.

I find brown (especially reddy brown), tan or burgundy shoes and boots look good on me with navy.

Almondio · 14/10/2018 08:55

I have a pair of mustard low heels in suede that look great with navy.

DeadCertain · 14/10/2018 11:09

I have some lovely yellow Boden heels that look great with navy.

I almost always wear navy opaque tights coming into winter time of year. Will coloured shoes be ok with navy tights?

I had some dove grey heels from LKB. I think this season’s greys are darker, but still good with navy workwear. Casuals, I go for canary yellow!

FellSwoop · 14/10/2018 13:46

My favourite pairing colours with navy are orange, tan or metallic/glitter in silver or pewter. I also think black patent or suede look lovely with navy.

foxtiger · 17/10/2018 20:45

Soft pink (blush?), silver, pewter or taupe. Maybe burgundy if there is other burgundy in your outfit.

CountFosco · 18/10/2018 21:53

For work I have a selection of navy shoes to wear with my many navy clothes. I also like contrast so e.g. red or silver or mustard all look great. Like the suggestion above of orange.

Boyskeepswinging · 18/10/2018 21:59

If you wear say silver or mustard shoes with a navy dress what colour tights would you wear?

BitOutOfPractice · 18/10/2018 22:01

Yes please style gurus. Please answer the what tights with navy conundrum

7Days · 18/10/2018 22:05

Bronze metallic is lovely with navey, also pink peach courts. Pinker than a nude but still that nice leg lengthening effect.

But rights - am stumped

GraceKL · 19/10/2018 05:26

Silver, brown, champagne are great for a navy dress. You can find more suggestions from here i think:www.pinterest.com/pin/543598617515025914/

I wear grey boots with a navy dress, it’s a long sleeved wrap style so more a day dress.

JessicaJonesJacket · 19/10/2018 05:49

I have amazing coral shoes that I wear with my navy dress with natural/nude tights.

CountFosco · 19/10/2018 05:57

I never understand the anxiety about what to wear with navy. It's like black, wear it like you'd wear black.

So, what colour tights would you wear with a black dress and silver shoes? I'm guess 90% of women would be wearing either black tights or nude tights. So there's your answer, your shoes are your pop of colour so wear tights that are either the same colour as your dress (navy) or your legs (nude). If you're in the 10% wearing whatever the hell you like you won't be on this thread, you'll be rocking navy dresses with green/red/mustard/whatever tights with your silver shoes.
