Ultherapy?

princesstiasmum · 13/10/2018 11:55

Has anyone here had Ultherapy, HIFU, and what were your results?
Is it worth the money? and how long before you saw results? There are so many new treatments now and some are not worth the money you pay for the results and often not what is promised

I had it about two years ago for neck and jowls. After 6 months there was no visible improvement so the clinic topped it up with a series of RF facials which made a slight improvement. I was very disappointed but then a year after the initial treatment I realised my necklace lines had gone and my jaw was much firmer. So it did work but it took a year to show any real effect. . Since then I’ve had another bout combined with a thread lift and am pleased with the results. It’s a very subtle, natural looking improvement.

It also bloody hurts and both times I was left with massive bruises on my neck and mild discomfort for several weeks.

All in all, I’ve spent over 6k on these ‘tweaks’. I’m pleased with how I look but I don’t think it was particularly good value for money.

Loonoon thank you for your reply, my daughter and myself have booked a session with a groupon voucher, but i am very sceptical, we had something similiar earler in the year, which cost us £200 each, and complete waste of money, this should be £900 but on offer with groupon for £89 for 90 minutes
I do think some of these new treatments are gimmicks, but we will see
I am wanting jowls and neck, but i have also seen videos on youtube and bad bruising on the neck
For the price you paid you might as well have had a neck lift, which i am thinking about, but thought i would try this first, not holding my breath though, and wouldnt pay £900
Glad you saw some improvement eventually though,
Would you not recommend it then, i hope it doesnt take a year,im too impatient lol

Anyone else?

I really don't see how a treatment offered for £89 is reputable. I think you ought to think very carefully before putting yourself in someone's hands. Ultherapy can have side effects. I've not had it but did do research into fillers with Dr Tracy Mountford (LOndon) and her fees start at £700 / 1ml filler and Ultherapy is around £2K.

Obviously there are cheaper options but I'd never go to anyone who wasn't a dr or who had really thorough training in this. There are negative reports online about Ultherapy causing burns and lumps that never go- just research it carefully.

princesstiasmum · 23/10/2018 12:32

To be honest i am a bit worried about it, i have read mostly good reports, but also some not so good
It is at a dental and skin clinic, i have seen some videos on youtube of treatment which has caused bruising, my daughter had this treatment once before about 3 years aog and it did make a difference after about 3 months, the session was for only about 60 minutes and cost about £700
I will look into it more ,but if i do go and its too painful i will stop the treatment
I know in some places it can cost thousands, but mainly in the south London are etc
Thank you for your comment though.
Appointment isnt until end of November, so if i go i will update

I'd not be happy having anything done at a dental and skin clinic as they have jumped on the band wagon often with very little training. No reputable clinic would offer this for 89 pounds when the going rate is thousands- groupon or not!

Birdsgottafly · 24/10/2018 06:19

I got the Groupon offer after seeing the difference on my Sister and her Friend, both in their 60's. I'm 51.

I went for the full facial. It made a difference, for about four months.

I bought a Microneedling kit and home RF kit from QVC. You have a 30/60 day money back garuentee. Other people noticed the difference, so I knew it was working.

The RF can be used on the back of the hands and I'm only doing one hand. I told people that I was using a new hand cream on one hand, so they would tell me the truth.

The hand I'm using it on looks a lot better. If I don't use the RF, my skin loses tightness. I did consider fillers in my nose-lip lines, I now don't need them.

I have a scar on my neck from Biopsies. It lifted, so I know it's working.

Birdsgottafly · 24/10/2018 06:30

It isn't painful. I have dental caps and needed to pad over my teeth, though.

The Groupon offer is incorrect because you only get part of your face done, not the full facial. They offer you a discount on the day.

I paid £360 for a full face and neck.

The treatment has come right down In price and has changed from even what was on offer last year.

I've been ill for two years and I'm looking to return to work next year. I'm considering Fibroblast on my jowls. I did consider a thread lift, but I want teartrough fillers and the two combined can make you look overdone.

What I like about Microneedling and RF is that it's conditioning your face, rather than just removing the lines.

Loonoon · 24/10/2018 12:15

I agree about looking overdone Birdsgottafly. I’ve had a thread lift and ultherapy and the doctor suggested fillers on my marionette lines but I declined. At the moment I look fresh and natural (as I should for the money!), I don’t want to start looking like I’ve had work done and I think fillers might have been a treatment too far.

Interestingly at the same appointment we were discussing when I would need top up the botox I have to open up my droopy eyes. The clinic has two new doctors administering botox and one specialises in a ‘natural’ look whilst the other one works with people who actually want to look ‘done’. Apparently that’s very popular with younger women. You can guess which one I booked with!

Loonoon · 24/10/2018 12:20

For the record, this was the bruising after my last ultherapy.

Ultherapy?
princesstiasmum · 24/10/2018 23:57

Birdsgottafly was this the same groupon one we are going for? a recent offer?
What do you mean they only do part of your face? do you mean just one half? [side] or upper or lower?to have the neck done too you have to pay an extra £50
So you think it does work? there are a few offers on Groupon, some are less to pay, but would cost less full price too

OP posts:
princesstiasmum · 25/10/2018 00:15

Birdsgottafly sorry i meant to add, i wouldnt recommend a thread lift, or tear trough fillers, my daughter has had both [what hasnt she had?] the thread lift didnt make much difference, nut personally i dont think she needed it anyway, but some surgeons dont even recommend it for the price you pay,
The tear trough fillers she had only 2 weeks ago and wants them dissolved, they look lumpy, and the lady is trying to persuade her to wait a bit longer,

My main problem is my turkey neck and lower face, jowls are not too bad,for my age, but lower face is sagging a bit in general
I hope you find something tou are happy with
What is Fibroblast by the way

OP posts:
princesstiasmum · 25/10/2018 00:21

Loonoon I have seen videos showing bruising, was it quite painful? some say yes, others say no
I have had fillers, but only in lip lines, like smokers lines, but dont smoke,
i ONLY HAD A WEAK FILLER SO IT SOFTENED THEM RATHER THAN GOT RID ALTOGETHER, BECAUSE I WAS NERVOUS OF IT GOING WRONG AND THEY DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THAT AREA
Sorry just realised caps on, and ready for bed so cant start all over again

OP posts:
princesstiasmum · 25/10/2018 00:24

Birdsgottafly when di you get the offer from QVC was it recent i was looking yesterday and couldnt see anything like that, although i know they do have offers like that sometimes

OP posts:
princesstiasmum · 25/10/2018 08:15

Sorry Loonoon reading again I see you did say it was painful.

OP posts:
Piccalillisnooze · 25/10/2018 09:05

What is RF?

princesstiasmum · 25/10/2018 09:58

Radio frequency, ,goes deeper in to skin, and uses heat to build collagen,

OP posts:
Birdsgottafly · 25/10/2018 21:32

princesstiasmum, it was a while ago. But an offer comes up every few months.

The only issue with RF is that it dissolves fillers, so if you like fillers, it may not be for you.

"What is Fibroblast by the way" its a plasma/electrical "blast" from a "gun". It looks like tiny pinpricks after the treatment. But the device used doesn't touch the skin. You are left with tighter skin.

"What do you mean they only do part of your face? do you mean just one half? "

They do the large triangle. So you don't get the full cheek/jowl/outer eye lift. The same Groupon offer has been running for nearly a year. They offer you an upgrade on the day.

I'm lucky to have found an ex Nurse who has gone through training to qualify as a cosmetic practitioner. She is really honest about what she can and can't do.

princesstiasmum · 27/10/2018 23:38

Birdsgottafly thank you for your explanation it sounds as if the part you need doing.[the outer parts of face ,jowls etc wont be done then, which id the most important part i would say, anyway we are now booked on the 14 th of November, so will see how it goes
I looked at Fibroblast but i have heard that it leaves burns round the eyes mainly so i wont be doing that,
I do want fillers after this,so hope it wont affect them afterwards

OP posts:
princesstiasmum · 16/12/2018 22:58

Update, well went and had the HIFU or ultherapy, they say its different, but anyway, the girl dis whole face, had to pay a bit extra for neck included, but the neck was my main concern, not noticed any difference yet
I have ben told a thread lift and cheek fillers will make a big difference, but im not sure i want to go that far, and especially with the thread lift
The lady who does it is a dentist and explained why dentists are some of the best peole to work on the face, as they have to know all about the facial nerves etc,
There are several ultherapy and hifu offers on groupon, it wasnt painful at all by the way

OP posts:
princesstiasmum · 16/12/2018 23:01

Loonon what difference did the threadlift make and was it painful at all and much bruising?
I am still considering it but dont want to waste my money on something that wont work, or last long
This dentist is a Dr too, andis very experienced, she was recommended, she is in her 50s

Podlar · 11/07/2021 11:58

Could you post an update please on your Ultherapy in 2018? I'm looking into options atm. Thanks! P
