Wrinkles and acne scars

Can anyone recommend any products/make up/treatments that I should be using please? I’m nearly 40 and have now got dull, wrinkled skin coupled with pitted acne scars ( which are about 25 years old, so don’t know whether I can do anything about them now?!) I’m willing to try anything but would refer products rather than Botox to start off with.

It might be worth a visit to a dermatologist and seeing if Retin a would be good for your scarring. It does resurface your face but can dry your skin and make you hyper sun sensitive.

I’m guessing it wouldn’t have the same effect but is there anything I can buy over the counter to start with? I’ve learnt to live with the scarring so wouldn’t be too upset if I spent up to about £100 on a product/products and there was only a slight improvement, it’s more the tone and wrinkles!

What does your current skincare routine look like?

There’s lots you can try.

Acid toners have worked wonders on me. I’m younger than you but also suffer with acne scarring. I started out using the Nip&Fab glycolic pads but I’ve just got the Pixi Glow tonic which I’m really liking but it’s not for everyone.

La Roche Posay do a mild retinol cream which may be a good introduction to see if it’s right for you.

I’m a big fan of Estée Lauder advanced night repair serum as well but again it’s a HG for some and rubbish for others. You can get a 7ml sample in a set for about £24 if you’re wanting to try without making a big investment.

At the moment I’m just using Lush Ultrabland twice a day, a Superfacialist peel and LRP moisturiser. I use these just because I like the products and I’ve got them already. I bought lots of different things earlier this year but didn’t really know what order to put them on or what they were for really so that was short lived Blush. I’ve tried the ordinary and it just confused me so I recently got rid of everything and want to start again from scratch. I ordered an Indeed Labs retinol reface and Vitamin C serum last night but again, I bought it blind and based just on reviews.

Indeed Retinol reface is lovely and does make a difference ,i have used it for years, but i bought a Juduth Williams retinol set of 3 on Ideal world and that is very good too to introduce retinol,

Bought a second set i am so pleased with it
