Acne prone dry teenage skin??

Hi, my dd is 15 and has moderate acne, as said by the gp, she also has fairly dry skin. The gp has given her 3 different creams and gels but they never seem to work, all they do is make her skin, as she calls it, ‘crusty’ and flaky. She’s given up on the gp now and uses sudocrem on a night, along with e45, and on a morning she uses an oil free neutrogena moisturiser. The neutrogena moisturiser isn’t moisturisering enough and the e45 makes her greasy and breaks her out in a lot of small spots. Sudocrem is amazing for getting rid of spots, but useless at preventing them. She uses a lush face wash. Does anyone know of any products she could use?

My DD is 13 and has the same problems, dryness (and prone to a sandpaper-y rash in places) but very spotty. We've tried lots of things but nothing really addresses both issues. I haven't taken her to the Dr year as she's not overly worried by the acne, but I've told her when she feels she wants to see the Dr I'll take her.

At the moment she's using a Burts Bees cleansing balm (in a tube, it's got willow bark in it) and Simple Rich moisturising lotion, and at night adds a sweep of Nip and Fab teen lotion (it's in a pink bottle, I bought it in Superdrug) and her skin is pretty good. For the dry rash she uses Oilatum Face Repair cream but I'm not sure if this is still around.

My DS uses Avene Skin Recovery cream which would be worth trying, his skin dries a bit as he's got a cream from the Dr (and is on antibiotics). I think it's a case of trial and error to be honest, but not too many products, but I hope you can find something to help. Lush are very good at samples, DS likes their Fresh Farmacy 'soap' as it's soothing as well as good for spotty skin (and I love their Celestial moisturiser, that's nourishing but not really heavy, you could try a sample of that). Good luck!

My 12 year old daughter had terrible acne. The cream prescribed made her skin very red and flaky. We tried daily antibiotics, after 3 months, no change. She then went on the contraceptive pill, after a couple of weeks her skin cleared up and has been flawless since.
