Cotton cargo trousers

I have a new job (yay!) that involves some site work. Clothes are not provided but natural fibre “hard wearing work trousers” are recommended for occasional site work.

Anyone seen anything suitable in a woman’s cut is mid-high waist and smaller waist than hip to prevent ‘builders’ bum’?

Jeans sadly not permitted.

Try Uniqlo. Sure they will have something that fits your spec!

Interviewee1001 · 09/10/2018 14:54

Thanks but sadly no, nothing on uniqlo. I’m thinking of cargo pants or combat trousers (but 100% cotton and women’s cut). Uniqlo seem good for smarter more office-y trousers or joggers.

Have you tried walking trousers from eg Go Outdoors?

Interviewee1001 · 09/10/2018 15:17

Will look on Go Outdoors, thanks. All the walking trousers in Millets are poly-cotton which is no good.

So frustrating - I’ve found loads of pure cotton combat type trousers for men but I know if I go for those in order to fit my hips/arse I’ll have to belt in loads of fabric at the waist and they’ll be too low slung :(

Why do they have to be cotton?

Interviewee1001 · 09/10/2018 15:41

Apparently they have to be “natural fibre” in case of sparks/fire/burns. Man made fibres melt.

The only other woman on the team just wears men’s trousers - but then she doesn’t have a ginormous arse!

Ah I see. You would think there would be somewhere that supplies to workplaces?

TheChineseChicken · 09/10/2018 15:46

Bar you could buy from direct

Interviewee1001 · 09/10/2018 16:01

Yeah, that’s what I thought, but I’m drawing a blank. They’re all poly-cotton too.

I think i may have to order a shed load of men’s and keep the least worst - at least there’s lots of choice!! (Cotton traders, lands end, h and m, marks....)

If you can find them (try Go Outdoors as that's where I got mine) Kuhl Clothing climbing trousers are awesomely comfortable and not all blue denim.

Surely if they say you have to have a specific type of fabric for health and safety then they need to provide it as a form of uniform? Like PPE...

I also have to occasionally go on sites for my job and I got given a catalogue to order PPE form and work paid for it all!
