Nordic style jumpers

Has anyone seen any nice ones this year?

I've had a look and I can't find any reasonably priced ones, and yes I know this probably means they totally out of fashion this year, but I really want one!

Not cream, beige, yellow or pink as those colours make me look like death warmed up.

Toast have a few in.

I saw this one in Matalan in my lunch break. Much more blue in real life.

Really nice but somehow the colours seemed too bright to be ‘authentic’ Confused

SurlyValentine · 16/10/2018 12:31

Jack Wills?

This one says it's "Vintage White" but it might be too cream for you.

Gap?

Have a look in Uniqlo.

I've had the same jumpers from them for three years and they still look new.

SoupMode · 17/10/2018 08:36

Thanks for all the suggestions.

@ThisIsTheFirstStep Uniqlo is my favourite place for jumpers, as you say the quality is great, but they don't have any nordic looking ones this year Sad

I found this one on H&M website the other day. Very cheap! But mainly acrylic so probably won't be all that warm.

I'm being Facebook hounded by a company called Two Thirds which have some contenders. Mostly natural fibres and eco friendly I think.

I did a thread on this last year, couldn't find one so decided to knit my own! Attached is a pic of the end result! Sorry not very helpful to you o know but I'm still quite proud of it 😊

wow digestivate that really is impressive

SoupMode · 17/10/2018 18:04

@digestivate that's beautiful! I love it. How long did it take you?

Seniorschoolmum · 17/10/2018 18:11

Try Celtic.co.uk they’re pricey but some of them are lovely. I’m trying to justify one at the mo. Smile

digestivate · 17/10/2018 19:22

Ah thank you!! I am quite proud of it as it was the first adult thing I made - had just done baby/toddler stuff til then. It was SO satisfying as well and I could choose the exact colours I wanted etc. I think it took me about 2 months or so of fairly solid knitting every evening type thing... I would really recommend it if you can knit! Also it's really good value for money.

AhoyDelBoy · 17/10/2018 23:04

@digestivate
You should be proud, that is beautiful! Where can I place my order!? Grin

AhoyDelBoy · 17/10/2018 23:06

Have been following with interest. Some beautiful jumpers have been linked. I really want one now for next winter (about to go into an Australian summer so doubt I’ll need one for that). Maybe I should check out any possible sales after the UK winter?

florriepeck · 18/10/2018 11:14

Which is the best for not being "scratty"?
That's the only thing that puts me off.

EnidButton · 18/10/2018 12:34

I tried in Oasis (cream and bright pink) and from ASOS (Warner cream and blue) and neither looked right on me. Maybe the colours weren't right but there's also something about the round shape right over my boobs that looks wrong. I also
reminded myself of my Dad in the 80's. I do like them but not sure they're for me. Watching with interest to see if any look like they might suit.

EnidButton · 18/10/2018 12:36

Florrie Scratty means scruffy and unkempt looking where I'm from. Is that what you meant?

florriepeck · 18/10/2018 12:39

Enid, I mean itchy.
I like the look of these jumpers, but never seem to have found one which is soft and comfortable.

SoupMode · 19/10/2018 08:35

@florriepeck I think itchy is subjective so you'd probably be best trying them on in the shop if you're sensitive to different materials.

I don't find any jumpers itchy, but my DD will only wear jumpers made of fleece or sweatshirt material, because woolly ones are itchy to her.

OP posts:
florriepeck · 19/10/2018 11:11

I am with your DD there, OP.
If the jumper budget was higher, I would be wearing the finest cashmere.
Now wondering which is the best value nice quality cashmere.

EnidButton · 19/10/2018 19:18

Ah I see. Yes I find a lot of wool too scratchy. A cotton mix is usually good and merino wool is smooth and soft. 100% sheep's wool is too rough feeling for me.

I agree you have to try them on. One I bought a couple of weeks ago seemed soft enough but once on it was really irritating.

EnidButton · 19/10/2018 19:19

Alpaca is very soft. Not that I've seen any jumpers, just nice throws, but one to look for.
