Is it possible to be stylish in maternity?

I am 22 weeks pregnant and bump is getting bigger by the day. I am used to spending time on my appearance and like to feel relatively styled but I am struggling to style my new shape. I don't want to spend a fortune on maternity clothes as I won't be in them too long (hopefully).

Does anyone have any tips on how to be pregnant and stylish? What would be a good capsule wardrobe? Any must have wardrobe staples?

Thank you!!!

I think it is, although I think it depends on your normal style. I like florals and dresses so found it easy to carry on with my look in pregnancy.

I highly recommend seraphine, it's not cheap but I found a couple of dresses were worn loads and lasted well, so worked out better value than my New Look dresses which fell apart before the pregnancy was over.

eBay is a great source of seraphine. Other brands I liked were mamalicious, Isabella Oliver and topshop's maternity range.

I'd say yes for about the next 10 weeks, and thereafter it can be more difficult. I had a few good pairs of maternity jeans but they're now so restrictive and uncomfortable at 34 weeks that I'm in leggings, Hush Amie joggers or maternity dungarees every day! I struggled with the summer (maxi dresses got boring) but it's easier to be stylish with a bump in winter because you can layer.

I bought a few casual day dresses from Happy Mama online, a few bretons from ASOS, New Look and Blooming Marvellous, and since it got cold I've been able to wear some of my nicer drapey cardigans and my leather jackets. I've been lucky in that I can wear all of my ankle boots but some of the ladies in my NCT group are in flip flops in October due to swelling.

Thank you!! I have a few pairs of jeans from H&M, as well as a few stripy tops. Most of my jumpers still fit so I am making use of them now but know that will be harder soon. I hope that my feet don't swell too much as I would like to wear my ankle boots through winter and avoid uggs, but I have them here if absolutely needed!

I agree it is easier in winter as I can layer, I was struggling in the heat even with a small bump! My wardrobe selection is so small as so much doesn't fit!!

I don’t shop from it normally but EBay is your friend when it comes to maternity wear especially for Seraphina, Isabella Oliver, Topshop, H&M & JoJo. Most of those brands tend to have a good resale value too.

I vote for seraphine and Isabella Oliver. Looks for discounts for latter - don’t pay full price. I bought a long stripy skirt and wrap top from jo jo Bebe Mamon which I got a lot of compliments on. I also spent too much on a gorgeous pair of maternity jeans but they made me feel great. Try and look for styles you can wear afterwards. Lots are dual maternity/feeding. I also wore a lot of navy for some reason!

MOTHER20

Should get you 20% off at Seraphine, it was in mother and baby magazine.

I had similar dates to you this time last year and wore bodycon dresses in a size up, with black opaques, black ankle boots and a long length blazer, chunky cardigan or coatigan type thing, depending on whether I was at work or not. I figured my legs were still slim so showed them off, and didn't have to think about having a flat tummy in bodycon!
