If you love Birkenstock what else do you wear.

I think I have Mortons Neuroma, the only shoes I can wear are Birkenstock and Sketchers go walk. I bought some Sketchers trainers but they are not as comfy as the go walk. I would love some stylish trainers does anyone have any suggestions.

Birkenstock do closed shoes boots and trainers if you like their in sole

Candlelights2345 · 30/09/2018 21:53

Still wearing burkies, but inside only. I looked at Birkenstock boots, they were nice but pricey. They were £159 buying directly from Germany but £209 buys by from Uk.

Kaz2200 · 30/09/2018 22:22

They look a bit pricey would like something between a sandal and a boot.

I have oddly shaped feet and birkenstocks are the most comfortable for me. I've had some success with Clarks and Heavenly Feet boots but I haven't found anything really good to fill the gap between sandals and boots.
I usually get something converse-like in a wide fit to see me through.
I'd love to try birkenstock boots or shoes but don't have the budget.

LunaTheCat · 01/10/2018 00:01

Love my birkies too!
There is a New Zealand company called Allbirds. They make sneakers and a flatter style called loafers made of merino wool. They are extremely comfy and washable. Come in lots cool colours.
They don’t ship to UK but ship to US ( check website). You could get a US mailing address from one of those forwarding companies.

I had surgery for my Morton's neuroma but both before and after Fitflops were the only thing I could comfortably walk in (when it was too cold for Birkenstocks) They do trainers and boots. I lived in the boots all winter.

SD1978 · 01/10/2018 09:14

Try fit flop- have been converted from Skechers

Kaz2200 · 01/10/2018 09:21

I had some lovely fitflop boots a couple of years ago but they crippled the ball of one foot I had to sell them on. I would love some coverse type but again they hurt. I'm so sick of trying on shoes, them being really comfy bit after wearing for and hour I cannot wear them. Shoes and bras, the bane of my life.

Have you got orthotics for your neuroma? I found sizing up and using the orthotics was quite good in trainers or wide flat boots. For me nothing really helped much apart from having the thing removed.

Kaz2200 · 01/10/2018 09:54

No I'm only self diagnosed, but it is a burning pain in the ball of my foot, Birkenstock and Go walk don't hurt at all, ugg boots are OK too. Has anyone tried Reiker or Vionics?

OP posts:
GatherlyGal · 01/10/2018 12:34

Yes I've got some vionics and they are expensive but nice. TO be honest the orthotics I got from the podiatrist are better than the vionic inbuilt ones.

Go to GP and they will refer you to podiatry. Might take ages but worth it.

carrie74 · 01/10/2018 16:00

Might be plantar fasciitis? I've got this, and don't really have anything that helps - my Birkies probably make it worse. I actually think my Sam Edelman Petty boots are the best thing, probably as has a very small heel. I generally wear trainers and find ones designed for running rather than fashion are better too.

Goldenhedgehogs · 02/10/2018 22:02

I got a pair of Birkenstock boots from TKMaxx for £50 during Oct half term last year, so it worth checking TKMaxx out. At the time they had loads

Kaz2200 · 02/10/2018 22:04

Thanks I'll have a look in tk max

Of all my shoes the ones with the widest footbed are red or dead. Don't know if all their styles are like this but worth a try. Also they required no breaking in

NicoAndTheNiners · 02/10/2018 22:49

Vans
DMs
Rocket dog

Kaz2200 · 03/10/2018 07:27

I dont have a wide foot, it's more the style I think, I've tried vans, comfy initially bit within an hour they hurt. Not tried DMs or Rockehet Dog so may give them a try.

I have a few Vionics but the really nice ones went back (Josie?) as they were uncomfortable. I was so disappointed.

anniehm · 03/10/2018 08:10

Clark's, Hotter, spring to mind - we have a great shop that sells these, Birkenstock's and more, specialist fitters too with various insoles. I also wear hiking shoes and boots, Salomon, Merrells currently.

borntobequiet · 03/10/2018 08:18

I had the steroid injection for MN, was sceptical beforehand but it worked brilliantly. Go to the GP and get a diagnosis. I may have been lucky but for me it was 4 weeks from the initial GP consultation to the injection, and three days after that I was walking normally again. That was 6 years ago, no trouble since.
