Make up hacks

Hi. I'm not a big make up wearer, but as I get older (38) I'm starting to see the benefits. However I'm also quite lazy and cba to do make up before work every day. I'm looking for 'hacks' or stuff that can be done at my leisure to avoid needing to do it in the morning. Anything s&b related, not just make up. So far, I have my eyebrows threaded, and I dye my eyelashes. Any tips gratefully appreciated. Thanks.

Tinted moisturiser instead of foundation. Mat ivory eyeshadow with a bit of shimery dark brown blended into the crease, (really quick and looks good for all occasions). remove one accessory before leaving (great advice from Coco Chanel). Tuck or fold your clothes, (example fold the hem of your sleeves back or tuck your top in). Wear a bold lipstick if you cba to do your eyes. Babyliss Big Hair (salon perfect blowdry in the comfort of your own home). Nudey/pink nail polish, (can be done in the evening while watching tv and makes you look that bit more put together). Classic understated jewellery.

Thanks fluffy. That's the sort of idea I was thinking of. Well mainly I want a way to wake up in the morning looking stunning, but these help./ I wear bb creme which is similar to tinted moisturizer I think (I'm a bit of a make up naif). / I don't think the coco channel advice is aimed at me else some days I'd have to choose between taking off my watch and my wedding ring! Although I have applied it for nights out. /I had never thought about folding things back, but I'm lanky so finding clothes that are anywhere near long enough is a challenge, let alone having hems to play with! I have recently started tucking things in, so that's a start. I've also bought some decent clothes as it takes the same time to put on tailored clothes as scruffy ones! / I like your make up advice, I used to only wear makeup if I was going all out, but have recently tried a pared down routine. / Nails - I meant to put in the op I do one I'd those cuboid buffers where you file, buff and shine. Does actual polish look better? / I think I might need to watch YouTube to do proper blow-dries / easy ish hairdos. Or cut it all off...

I have permanant lashes the fan type not individual but at the same length as my own lashes. It just really thickens then up and no need for mascara. Just make sure you find a sympathetic sensible beautician because they can get carried away thinking everyone wants to look like a Kardashian. Also brows but your already in that.

Love51 · 24/09/2018 20:27

Brows they just take away to leave them in a neat shape. I haven't ever tried any form if colouring them in. I would be willing to dye them myself (too tight to pay salon prices!) but I'm a but scared! How long do the salon lashes last? What's the difference between fan and individual? Off to wash my hair and try to curl it overnight as I'm not at the gym in the morning!

I tint my own eyebrows before I wax them, I use a dark brown which is only a little darker than my natural colour, it just picks up all the baby hairs so makes them fuller. Bought from boots, I use Eyelure Dyebrow in dark brown. One pack has lasted ages, you get dye and an activator and you just mix as much as you need and leave it on for a few minutes, it doesn't dye your skin so no risk of weird shapes, if you accidentally tint a hair you don't want you can pluck it. Everything you need is in the pack, mixing tray, spookiest, little spoon thing.

If you have a light coverage foundation that is a good colour match to your skin, you can apply it over only the middle of your face - nose, chin and under your eyes - and not bother going any further. It's very quick to do and looks polished but natural.

Sunglasses and lipstick. Makes you look fully made up of you are just popping up out of the house for a few minutes. Fine in winter too.

Eyelash extensions! Best thing I ever did. Can look 'made up' without any other make up on. Mine are quite natural looking and I have infills every 3 - 4 weeks. No need for mascara anymore or trying to (badly) apply false eyelashes.

Another vote for eyelashes:). But I have them permed (LVL) rather than having extensions. It works better for me as I have long natural lashes and the LVL give me a much brighter look.
I tried the extensions more than once but I struggled with feeling the false lashes on top of mine and they never looked natural enough on me. I do LVL every other month.

I also do my own gel nails at home. Saves lots of time and money and lasts for more than a week (it would last more but I am fussy about regrowth).

I do the sunglasses thing as it is so bright in the mornings now! I'm going to try dying my brows before I next have them threaded I think. I'd like to try some sort of false lash but I'm a bit scared I will spend lots of money and hate the result!
How much would lvl cost, user? And what does it stand for?
I had curly hair today, nice but not worth the hassle! Thanks all, I'll update if I come across any other great ideas!
