Hair extensions

My Dd has asked for hair extensions for her birthday. I have no knowledge or experience but on first google they are very expensive.

Would really appreciate advice from anyone with experience.

Her hair is very thin due to a previous thyroid issue which now seems to have resolved.

She does a lot of sports so would need to be able to do all the usual things. Also I wouldn't want them if they do any damage longer term.

She is 15

Are you going to get synthetic or human hair?

I have synthetic clip ins. So she could take them out for sports. As do I.

Or when they feel a bit heavy.

I've had some from Megan McKenna range and the Charlotte Crosby range and I'd recommend both.

I use mine predominantly for going out or work meetings if I need to look swish.

If you buy human hair extensions you will be better going to a specialist shop where they will match them and a lot will sew them into the strips with clips to take in and out.

Happy to answer any questions I've used loads!

I have fine rather than thin hair. I suggest to ask people around for recommendations with extensionists as badly fitted they could damage her hair further.
If her hair is really thin, it might not be easy to hide the extensions, mine were showing sometimes.
I only had about 25 strands fitted for volume, no extra lenght. Only had them in for about 4-5 months as they were driving me nuts towards the end but somehow they’ve improved my own hair, my normally limp hair had a lot more body to it for about half a year after taking them out.
I’d ask the extensionist perhaps to split the rings so they don’t put too much strain on her hair.

Tape extensions might be best in this case if her hair has thinned. If you get decent quality hair they can be removed and reapplied at the root again once the natural hair has grown. They will also distribute any weight over a section of hair rather than individual strands, which may pull, or be visible.

Have a google. They don't take too long to apply either so shouldn't cost much in terms of labour.

Yes hopefully getting human hair. I don't know that she will be able to maintain them properly herself but I wonder if the best thing is to let her try.

She is very conscious of her hair and has a big social occasion coming up.

I have bonded hair extensions (by Great lengths) They're amazing, I can't feel them and they look very natural.
I'm growing out a pixie so have just had them put in at the sides while it grows.
They are the best ones you can get and £££
Cost will vary depending on where you get them done & how many are needed.
