Ionic lightweight hairdryer - suggestions please?

Ok so we need a new hairdryer - have looked into T3 and Parlux but read horror stories about some of them blowing up and people saying their build quality isn't what it used to be.
We need an ionic that smooths the hair and tackles static too.

Annoying thing is, our current one (Ego Professional) still works!! But the smooth touch matte coating on it has turned into some kind of perma-sticky superglue surface. (no it won't clean off, even tried baby wipes! Dried it with kitchen roll and that stuck to it and ripped! nice!) I don't use post shower hair products so it's nothing external - according to the company (been taken over and currently rethinking the design line) it's just the coating oxidising and nothing can be done. Sad times. It's literally the first drier my mum's used that's allowed her to have a bob.

I would be sooooo grateful for any suggestions on something with decent build quality that won't blow up but also has that technology?!?

Lightweight and ionic are a must.

The Dyson? Expensive but one if it's key selling points is that's it's so light.

I loved my parlux but it did explode in spectacular fashion when I was staying on a hotel (and might've blown the plug socket too)!

I have the Dyson now and it's perfect.

See this is what I'm worried about lol. Exploding in any fashion let alone spectacular is not good!
Which model Parlux was that?

Thank you for the Dyson suggestions. Rather too costly for us though.

(and might've blown the plug socket too)!

Were you using an adapter with it by any chance?

It was the 3800, if I remember correctly.

Although to be fair, we were relocating back to the UK and were using an Aussie/UK adapter, so that might have something to do with it.

Yes, the Dyson is pretty expensive - only downside, I think.
